Adrian checked the other pot to see if the water was boiling. "Imagine if everyone was able to read each other's minds. That would be hectic."
-
"Ugh, that would be awful. Life is already hectic enough," Katherine said. "Can I help you with the shepherd's pie?"
-
"You can mash the potatoes once they're ready for that," Adrian said. He stirred in a pack of frozen green beans to the meat once it was all browned.
-
Katherine nodded and watched him cook. "You make your pie with beans?"
-
"It's shepherd's pie, not apple pie," Adrian laughed. "It's a little bit like a pot pie. There's meat, gravy, and vegetables on the bottom, and then you put mashed potatoes on the top and bake it." He grabbed the cornstarch and a cup. He put some of the white powder into the cup and filled it with cold water, then stirred it. Then he poured it in, making the gravy part of it.

Katherine shrugged with a smile on her face. "I know, it's just that I always make mine with corn." -
(XD)
"Corn definitely works too, but the recipe I'm using calls for any vegetable, and the green beans were the first thing I grabbed," Adrian said with a shrug. "Whenever I see 'any vegetable,' I usually just assume they mean beans or corn or both." -
"Any vegetable," Katherine mused. "What about potatoes? You could potatoes on potatoes. Double potato."
-
"Because that," Adrian said, "is simply too much potato.
-
"Depends on how much you like potatoes," Katherine said with a laugh. "Can I make dessert? I knew someone who made some awesome pies and she taught the arts to me. She absolutely loved pies."
-
(Oh my – )
"Go ahead," Adrian said. "But I don't know if we have enough anything for the filling, and I don't keep cans of it around." -
Hehe-))
Katherine rolled the potatoes in the pot around with the wooden spoon absentmindedly. "No berries or fruit?" -
"I have them, but I'm not much of a baker and I don't know how much would be needed," Adrian answered. Soon the timer beeped, announcing that it was time to start mashing the potatoes.
-
Katherine flicked the heat off, fetching a strainer and straining the potatoes. "Well, what kinds of fruit do you have?"
-
"A bag of apples in the fridge," Adrian said, "and some bananas and oranges on the counter." He grabbed the milk out of the fridge for the potatoes and grabbed the masher utensil.
