Tessa walked onto the front porch and shivered. "How are you out here without a coat," she mumbled. She sat down next to Katherine.

"I'm used to the cold," Katherine said with a hum, still staring at the forest instead of turning to acknowledge Tessa's presence.

"Guess I'm still used to the fires of hell," she said. "Look, I'm sorry about how I was acting. I didn't make a good first impression and I probably hurt you."

"It's okay," Katherine said with an indifferent shrug. "You don't have to apologize for telling the truth."

"It's still no excuse, though," Tessa said.

Katherine looked at Tessa and smiled a little. "Alright then. All is forgiven."

"Good," she said. "Now let's go inside, I'm freezing."

Katherine laughed and got up, offering a hand to Tessa to help her up. "Sure. It is pretty cold."

Tessa stood up and the two of them walked inside. "I'll be going home in a few minutes," she said to no one in particular.

Katherine nodded and cleared away her plate, sighing as she stared at the rest of the apples she had to cut.

"You can put it in the fridge and finish it tomorrow," Adrian said, seeing Katherine gazing at the apples with disintrest.

Katherine nodded gratefully and said nothing, sitting down and rubbing her temples.

"Alright, I'm off," Tessa said.
"Oh, wait, Tessa, I have something for you," Adrian said. He walked up the stairs then returned a minute later with a strange-looking object in his hand. He tossed it to Tessa.
She caught it and looked at it wide-eyed. "Where did you get this?"
"Bought it off an old man that didn't know what it was," he said simply. "Didn't want anything to happen."
Tessa nodded a thanks then said, "Goodbye, Katherine."
