"You don't believe me," Adrian said bluntly. He could tell she didn't.

"Yes, and no. It's a little hard to believe something like that without any proof," Katherine said. "I've never really been the hero type."

"You're just curious," Adrian said. "I can't go into more detail until you believe me. Now for the Guardian stuff. I'm like a your guardian angel. Also I can read your mind."

Katherine touched her hand to her head, as if trying to block him from reading her mind. "So that's why you were out so late!"

Katherine shuddered. "I'm not gonna lie, that's a bit creepy. Is that why you were at the bridge tonight? Have you been-" A horrified expression slid over her face. "-watching me?" -
"There's a few reasons that I was at the bridge but they all involved you," Adrian explained. "I didn't know you were my charge until I saw you tonight."

The time when she had flounced about her garden in her pajamas went out of Katherine's mind at Adrian's words, relieved. "I was in a bundle of coats, how did you know?"

Adrian chuckled. "You really did that in your PJs?" He asked. "I just could. Like I said, I'm your Guardian. I was drawn to you."

Katherine blushed in embarrassment, covering her face and peeking out at him between her fingers. "So what now?"

"Depends on if you believe me now or not," Adrian said.
A demon appeared in the back yard of the house. He had yellow cat-like eyes and bat-like wings that he didn't bother concealing, and was completely dressed in black leather with a few thin chains for decorative purposes. He silently walked through the back door.
Adrian froze. He felt something. His eyes widened when he realized what it was. "Katherine," he said, a tone of perfect seriousness in his voice. "Get out of the house now." -
Katherine was scared by Adrian's tone and expression. She started to get up. "W-Why? Where will I go?"

"Just go," Adrian said. "There's a demon." He pulled a knife and started walking around the house looking for it.

"What?!" Katherine said in a whisper. She didn't know what to do. What if she left the house and it got her? She pushed her fears aside and decided to listen to Adrian, pulling on her coats and getting out of the house.
