"Oh, you aren't yet 18? You sure look like you are." Androw wondered whether or not Seth would take that as a compliment. "Why thank you," he said to Grace, smiling. "We seem to have quite a bit of weapon diversity amongst ourselves."
~
Erissa rolled her eyes, shaking her head and looking to Matthew. "So you can see her and the tiger, yes?" She asked, curious. "Are you not a human?" -
“ I however am 18...well almost. I turn 18 tomorrow you see.” Grace explains. “ ah speaking of which, I wasn’t planning on attending but, it could be fun.” She says as she runs off. Grace comes back with an envelope. “ a friend of mine invited me to a ball he’s hosting tonight, real fun event. I have been granted two guests.” Grace explains. “ would you both care to attend with me?”
-
Astra leaned forward. “ hmm.” She says staring into his eyes. “ well...perhaps you could be a warlock...just not a very visible mark. Of course no one is as subtle as me.” She says jokingly. -
"I'll be eighteen in two weeks," Seth said. "It's so aggravating. One time we had some fellow hunters here, and I don't remember why, but they had to go out and fight. One of the visitors told me to get ready, but my mom told him that I was only fifteen."
~~~
"I - I don't know what I am, anymore" Matthew said. He was finally able to process everything going on. At least a little of it. -
"Ah, you both are younger than me!" Androw felt a bit proud of himself. "I've been 18 for just about a month or so now, but.. My parents have been waiting to let me do much of anything." At the mention of a party, he tilted his head, staring curiously at Grace. "I've never been to a ball," he confessed. "I don't know what one would do at such an event.."
~
Erissa was baffled. "What do you mean, you don't know? I think you'd know if you weren't a mundie! Human, I mean. Whatever they call themselves.." -
"I know you have a dancing card," Seth said. "And that's about it. I'm up for it."
~~~
"I said anymore," Matthew said. "I don't think I am anymore." -
Grace laughed. “ Edward will likely not care, he is a very kind man.” She states matter of factly. “ in fact accompanying me, may be your only chance to see me in a dress my friends, new and old alike.” She laughs.
-
“ ah! So you must be a werewolf then.” Astra decides. “ why don’t you come with me tonight to a ball being hosted by a dear friend of mine. I can help you figure out...well the shadow world, a sit seems you need help.”
“ and my invitation is extended to you as well my dear, as an apology for disturbing you both with my dear kitten.” She says to Erissa -
"Well, this is astounding," Seth said. "Grace, of all people, has decided to wear a dress! Who's ever heard of such a thing."
~~~
"Shadow world?" Matthew asked. He thought for a moment. This seemed like the best way to figure out what he was, and to move on from being trapped inside the house. "Alright, I'll go." -
"..Well, it's settled. We're all going to this ball!" Androw adjusted his coat, grinning boldly. "As the eldest, I'll make sure to protect you both. Assuming, of course, that any fights break out." As an afterthought, he added, "I look forward to seeing your outfit tonight, Grace."
~
Erissa pursed her lips, thinking. She didn't like warlocks much, nor was she interested in attending something that would have endless amounts of people. But, she was curious to get to know Matthew better. "I suppose I can go," she said, staring intently at Matthew. "You think he's a werewolf? Have you ever changed before, Matthew?" -
"You don't think I can defend myself?" Seth said. "I'm the best at throwing daggers."
~~~
Matthew nodded. "Twice. It was awful." He remembered how his body had changed, and the absolute pain and torture it was for both times. -
“ As am I.” Grace responded. “ it was a gift from my friend.” The shadow hunter told them. “ I saved his hide once, and as I was a rather young girl, he feels in my debt. Embarrassed you see.” She laughs, forgetting to share crucial information about Edward Wallace.
-
Astra looked pleased. She quickly wrote down her address, and by that I mean she snapped her fingers and some parchment with the address on it appeared.
“ be at my home by 7 pm. From there we can go to the ball. Even if I am unable to help you personally, there will be many who can.” She assures Matt kindly. -
"Neither of you have been up against actual demons and Downworlders, though, have you?" Androw looked at both of them, wiggling his finger. "I have. It's not as easy as hitting targets."
~
Errisa squinted at the parchment, pursing her lips. "Hmm.. I can help him! What good would a Fair Folk like me be if I couldn't help out a poor soul?" When she stood up straight, she had a mischievous look in her eyes. Matthew likely had no idea what faeries could do. -
“...As far as Evalina knows? No. No we haven’t.” Grace smiles pleasantly. “ well my dear gents, it’s time for me to try to go put on that ball gown Eddie sent me.” She says pleasantly as she walks off.
-
“ and that’s my first lesson for you sweetie. We don’t trust the fair folk. Lovely as they may be, they’re tricky and dangerous.” Astra laughs gently. “ I’ll bid you good day until seven.” She says as she leaves. -
"So how do you like your first taste of the Institute?" Seth asked. "We argue a lot. But it's like a family."
~~~
Matthew nodded at Astra. Suddenly the full realization of what just happened came upon him. He was a werewolf. There's Fair Folk, which was probably what Erissa was, Astra was a Warlock, whatever either of those might be, he didn't know. But now he was going to some sort of ball that night, and there were others like him. -
Androw turned his full attention to Seth, now that Grace had taken off. "I think I like it," he said honestly. "You both have been very nice. I was.. Scared."
~
Erissa watched Astra take off, her tiger trailing at her side. She put her hands on her hips, huffing. "The nerve!" She exclaimed aloud. "I'm only dangerous when I choose to be. You still trust me, right, Matthew? After all, I approached you first." -
Grace took the dress from the box and smiled. It was rare she enjoyed feminine thing but, then again, she didn’t fully enjoy masculine things either. This dress however was just to her tastes, and so the young woman began to process of dressing herself.
-
Astra arrived home, and decided to draw a bath. She sighed. She used magic to help her I the process of getting ready. She had to look her vert best of course, her dress would definitely highlight her eyes for a change.
