Zander ignored Candace and asked "Why is it here and where did it come from?" Madame Charmaine answered "The Devastator is a creature that can only be summoned by someone with extreme hatred for all life. It takes control of whoever has this hatred and uses it to suck the living energy out of anything. It leaves the area cold and lifeless, and gets rid of any animal and person unfortunate enough to be in the wrong place."
-
Candace frowned but, also not wanting a fight, said nothing to Janus. Was sarcasm really that offensive to people? "Well I have a long list of people I know who are like that, but I think they all died in the Devastator so it wasn't completely devastating, but that also means they aren't suspects." Candace sighed. She was beginning to wonder if she'd be better off outside than with these guys. Or perhaps back in the forest. She could survive off of the parts of the forest that aren't dead, and living in the dead area would make it unlikely that the death cloud would kill her since there would be no reason to go back to a place without life. However her human wanted to have people she could trust, and forced a transformation. "Anyways, Thank you for answering our questions Oracle. I apologize if my behaviour was a bother." She spoke after a deep breath as she straightened her hair and forced a nervous smile.
-
Janus undid his bun and ran his fingers through his hair. "This is troubling." He mumbled, his face neutral but his hands betraying him as he tangled and untangled his hair. "How do we defeat something like this?"
-
Ink shivered slightly and had gone very pale, looking like he was going to be sick. "How would we even fight something like that?" he said quietly
-
Madame Charmaine answered "The only way to defeat this creature is to find the Eye of Life, an amulet of great power. It can completely get rid of the Devastator."
-
Candace nodded. Her wolf was screaming at her to leave before she could get forced into this, but she wanted to have some purpose in her life. Candace didn't want to throw her life away surviving but being miserable. It was better to take risks and live. "Do you know how we can find it?" She asked.
-
Janus felt his fingers getting tangled into his hair, and tried to wrench them out. "I can't believe I'm getting thrown into this..." he mumbled, overwhelmed.
-
Ink glanced at Janus and frowned slightly before looking back at the oracle
-
Madame Charmaine said "I'm afraid I do not. But the map maker next door could probably tell you."
-
"Alright, Thank you." Candace replied. "Do you guys want to look for the jewel? I'm sure a hero such as Janus would be proud to lead the adventure." She teased, but not in a rude way like before, more in a friendly way.
-
Janus let out a snort, “And a brave creature like you wouldn’t mind dying for a cause like this, right?” He said, his tone somewhat serious but mostly playful.
-
Ink blinked at them and stared for a few seconds before just turning and walking out of the tent
-
Zander gave Madame some silver coins and said "Thank you for your help." Madame Charmaine said "Be careful heroes, this task is very dangerous."
-
"My wolf won't like it, but I want to do something with my life. Otherwise, what's even the point of surviving?" Candace replied to Janus.
-
Janus didn't bother to respond to Madame, or thank her. He wasn't one to bother with formalities like that. She got her pay, she should leave them alone. that was his two cents anyway.
"Point of surviving..." Janus mumbled. "Good question. I guess you're right."
