Cassady lept down the horse, giving herself a more dramatic and bold vibe than the graceful and grateful vibe she had leaked earlier. "Mordac, the Dark Wizard has returned. He is seeking Iron for one of his spells. Unless you'd rather be slaughtered by Mordac, we need you to leave and head for safety. We will protect your iron and hopefully we can capture Mordac." She explained in a deeper, less formal and more serious voice than the kind, mature, gentle one she used with the Stone Knight. That's more like it. She thought, although she preferred the other way of explaining.
-
The foreman said "I'm not scared of any wizard. We have to get our money, little missy." Daniel said "You must. Mordac will show no mercy." The foreman said "Give me one good reason." "Dennis said to." said Daniel. The foreman changed his expression and then shouted "Alright everyone, let's get out of here. We're done for the day." The miners looked at each other, shrugged, dropped their tools and left.
-
Cassady frowned, disappointed that her dramatics didn't gain any respect. She shrugged and began to set up for th3 stake out.
-
Daniel said "I approximate that Mordac might strike at night. He could easily hide in the darkness. What kind of trap do you suppose we use?"
-
"Well, we would hide on one of the roofs I suppose. You can clog the mine with ice, so he wouldn't expect that. When we hear his reaction, I can light up the whole place, and we will be able to see him. Which will give us a fair shot." Cassady strategized.
-
Daniel said "Sounds like a plan. But how do we know my ice won't melt once the surrounding area is fire?"
-
"Then I'll weld a bunch of rocks together to seal the cave, you freeze it over so the rocks harden. By the time he gets here, it'll be a solid wall. We'll have to use your ice to break down the wall once we capture Mordac though so the miners don't loose access." Cassady explained. She realized she was sounding a bit too reasonable and coughed to correct herself. "Though... Maybe that'll teach the minors for being such jerks!" She added, forcing a smirk to hide her near slip of character.
-
Daniel figured her solution was rather good. He started putting up rocks in front of the cave, so that Cassady wouldn't have to. He figured only he could do it right.
-
Cassady began welding the rocks, careful not to burn the guy. No matter how bold and badass she was supposed to be, or how arrogant he seemed, she knew their only hope was to trust eachother if they were to capture Mordac. Cassady felt shivers as she worked beside him. She assumed it was his powers. However... The shiver felt like more of an emotionally caused one than a physical one. Like the kind of shiver when someone stares at you that you don't trust. Or the kind she got when her teacher harassed her. Cassady decided ah was overthinking it. It was most likely his powers.
-
(*she, not ah.)
-
As Daniel stacked up the rocks and watched Cassady weld them together, something was stirring up inside him. He felt a weird sensation of warmth, that he had never felt before. He thought maybe it was her powers, but he wasn't sure.
-
Cassady smiled when they finished the rock wall. "I could have stacked them you know." Cassady told him with a smirk as she stepped out of the way for him to freeze them.
-
Daniel said "Sure. But I figured it would be structurally sound if I did it." He then proceeded to freeze over the rocks.
-
Cassady rolled her eyes and stuck her tounge out. She looked around, planning where she would hold the fire. She would need places that would feul the fire without spreading it. Otherwise she would have to concentrate on the fire and that would make Daniel have to fight alone.
-
Once Daniel finished with the ice, he started looking around trying to figure out where Mordac would most likely appear when he got here.
