Daniel kept an eye on Mordac to make sure he didn't try anything. He said "So what do you think life will be like now?"
-
"Same as it was before probably." Cassady told him, dreading going back to her teacher's stupid smug face. Probably greeting her with his stupid smug voice going "So we meet again beautiful..." Or something like that. Then he would probably smack her lightly on the rear and send her back to training. Cassady realized the reins nearly caught fire from her anger and quickly calmed down. "Maybe since we did good on this mission the king will send us on others. Probably none drastic enough to partner us up again now that we have a Mordac." She continued.
-
Daniel said "Maybe. Let's hope get some good respect."
-
"Yeah..." She sighed. "I won't count on it though..." She mumbled, not realizing she was speaking out loud as she listened to Claire's hooves on the stone pathway.
-
Daniel said "Yeah." Daniel thought about his boring life. Now he realizes that Cassady really did make the mission more exciting. All his life he was told to keep it calm and collected.
-
Cassady saw the stone town in view. She smiled, excited to see a possible reaction from the town as they rode through it with the captured wizard. Cassady sat up straight, but tried not to be too dramatic about it in case no one really cared.
-
They passed the mine. Several of the miners gave Daniel and Cassady the stink eye because they forgot to open the mines back up. Daniel tried to pay them no mind.
-
Cassady whistled innocently as they passed the mine. A smirk on her face after they passed it. She bowed her head in greeting as she passed the Stone Knight. "Thank you for helping us." She thanked him with a smile.
-
Daniel bowed to Dennis as well. All Mordac did was stick his tongue out.
-
Cassady steered Claire around the tree and was amazed and disappointed at how quickly their journey was coming to an end. She started feeling tense again as Claire galloped along the path.
-
Soon they approached the castle, and several guards took Mordac off their hand to take him to the dungeon. The king came to both Daniel and Cassady and said "Congratulations."
-
Cassady took a deep breath, her heart beating. It felt like the sight of her home was giving her pain. You know how some people get home sick because they are away from their home? Cassady believes home sick means to be sick of her home. She tried not to show her discomfort or dread as she got off the horse to bow to the king.
-
Daniel bowed and said "Thank you my king. We couldn't find any of his materials he may have gotten." The king said "Don't worry, we'll take care of it."
-
Cassady saw a carriage coming, decorated with the crest of the fire knights. She saw her teacher driving it and took in a sharp breath. She took a pair of power handcuffs from her bag and broke them apart, putting them on before turning to Daniel. "Figured I'd give you a painless goodbye." She told him with a sincere smile, fighting tears from leaving her eyes as she shook his hand.
His touch was cold, but refreshing. And his hand was extremely soft. She didn't fight a blush from appearing on her cheeks before letting go of his hand. Her teacher came out of the carriage, the expected smug look on his face as he walked over. "Congratulations Cassady. Now, if we may continue your training, you still have a target to hit." He told her, cupping her chin with his hand. She tried to hide her disgust, giving him an emotionless look. -
Daniel thought without her powers, Cassady's have felt warm but comforting. He still didn't like the way her instructor talked to her, but now he felt more unease by it.
