Daniel said "I'll tell you once we get to the king."
-
Cassady nodded and whipped the reins once Daniel was on. Claire went racing off as Cassady held the reins tightly.
The Fire Knight instructor walked in to see Mordac attacking the king. He grabbed his bow and arrow and launched repeated arrows into Mordac's heart, archery being his specialty. -
(That's not what's happening. The king is supposed to be in the royal stables. Mordac is long gone.)
-
(Sorry. I didn't know. Take out the part about the teacher.)
-
The king was on the ground in his stables, crying into his hands. As it turns out, the king's steed was a unicorn and Mordac killed it for it's blood. The other knights stood around in shock at the sight of a unicorn and in grief for it's death.
-
Cassady saw the unicorn, and Claire instantly fell to her knees as if bowing to the creature. Unicorns were probably seen by horses the same way humans looked at angels. Claire looked up and began neighing loudly in pain, probably mourning the unicorn as she watched the silver blood trickle through the stables. Cassady covered her mouth with her hand, the sight filling her heart in pain. Unicorns were the purest of creatures. So pure that if they win a battle, they would use their powers to heal their foe. So to see one dead was a painful sight to any specious.
-
Daniel looked at the unicorn and, for the first time in 10 years, cried. Daniel put his hand on the king's shoulder and said "I'm really sorry, my king." The king said "She was my horse. I've had her since I was a little boy." Daniel said "I know, and I wish I had been here for her." The king responded "It's not your fault, Daniel."
-
Cassady wiped her eyes from her tears. "I will never be like him... No matter what happens in life... I could never be as heartless and cruel as he is." Cassady muttered to herself, remembering Mordac's taunting as she balled her hands into tight fist.
-
The king said "Can everyone leave? I need some time to myself." Daniel said "Of course, sir." He stood up, said "You heard him, everyone leave." and started to see everyone out of the stables.
-
"Claire, get up." Cassady told her horse. The horse refused to budge. Cassady decided to leave her horse there so she could mourn. She petted Claire before leaving the stables and catching up to Daniel. She walked beside him in silence, too devastated from the creature's death to speak.
-
Daniel said "It's a sad day indeed. A creature so beautiful and so holy, to be killed by a selfish man."
-
Cassady nodded. "When Mordac saw me in the forest... He... He told me that if I ran away to fight for my freedom... He said I would be like him..." Cassady admitted with a teary voice. "I could never be like him... The man kills unicorns and brags about it. I wouldn't be able to kill an elderly rabbit." She continued, looking at the ground. "I would kill myself if I ever ended up like him." She cried.
-
Daniel said "You aren't like Mordac. He ran away because the pressure of being a knight was too much for him. He killed his teacher when he tried to take him back. You aren't him."
-
"He told me his teacher harassed him as well..." Cassady sighed, feeling a bit foolish. She could bet that Mordac was watching them right now. Laughing at her weakness. She knew though after calming down a bit that it wasn't her who was a fool. Mordac was a selfish coward with no heart. The knights who took off his handcuffs were the fools.
-
Daniel said "Sometimes, mentors are hard on their students, so they can be who they were meant to be. Or at least that's what my teacher told me."
