"What.. Oh. Oh, God, Nevaeh? You've gotten mixed up in this s---? Oh, f---.." The surprise left him, replaced by pure menace. "Okay. Alright. I'll go. And I'll tell the king about your change of heart. Perhaps they'll even let me have a front row ticket to watch them take off the twins heads! I bet they'll do something special for Lynna, though. She's-" He didn't get to say anything more. Nevaeh, having heard enough, flung the knife at him, watching it bury itself into his chest. Her face was stone as she watched him topple to his knees, staring at her.
"It's just.. Jule, I.. What if I can't bring my girls here?" She bit her lip, leaning her head against his. -
Rhonen cringed and looked away when he heard the light thump of the blade firmly lodging itself in the young man's chest. It didn't have to be this way, but it was most unfortunate that it was. With a soft whine, the wolf gently nudged his mate to start moving, wanting to lead her as far away from this place as possible.
"Maybe we'll figure something out for them. Help them find a new, more peaceful place to live. Rhonen would do anything that made Nevaeh happy, even if it could compromise himself." Jule told her, reaching up to stroke her hair. -
Nevaeh shook her head, not wanting to move yet. She stepped past him, towards Daniel. He glared at her, now on his back. The knife was shot, lodged in his lung. If she left him here, he would bleed to death slowly and painfully. She picked up his machete by the handle, looking down at him. Perhaps it could have been different. Perhaps she could have tried to reason with him.. But he hadn't just been threatening her, and the twins, and Lynna. He'd been threatening Rhonen, and Aniel, and the whole pack. She couldn't manage to feel guilty as she wove her hand into his hair, pulling his head back. Nevaeh looked away as she brought the machete down, cutting his throat. She closed her eyes, listening to his gasps as he suffocated on his own blood. When it was over, when it was done, he stood up, staring at Rhonen. After a bit of silence, she spoke. "I want to bury him."
"I don't want to.. Jule, I want to be with them. Cora, she's about to have that baby, and she doesn't trust midwives. Molly and Ella are just children yet. I need to bee with them. And I need to be with you, too," She tried to explain, frowning. -
Rhonen had to shut his eyes and look away again at the sound of cutting flesh and cracking of what he assumed was bone. How he wished he didn't have such good hearing, every choking breath made him cringe and shudder. But he could sense his mate's feelings, she felt no guilt for her actions, just a strong willingness to protect her loved ones. He exhaled deeply at the sound of her voice, finally able to look at her after all the noises of death. He nodded lightly at her request, casually making his way over to her. Like any canine, he could dig and began to do so nearby.
"I understand. I'll ask Rhonen to do everything he can to keep you all together." He reached up to cup his mate's face and give her a loving kiss. -
The huntress quickly took all the weapons off of Daniel's body, careful not to touch anything with silver on it. She tossed them into the cabin, shutting the door. For a moment, she had considered putting them with Daniel, but it was pointless. She felt a bit of regret at what she had done, but it had been necessary. Daniel didn't kill because he had a cause, he killed for fun, and she knew he would enjoy taking her down if it meant praise from the king.
Lynna kissed him back, nodding a little. She picked the apple back up, taking a bite. "I love you." -
It took quite awhile to complete the somewhat shallow grave, enough time to where he knew if they didn't hurry back, his parents would come looking for him again. It would keep the young man covered for awhile, and if need be, he could return later to redig the hole further with some help from a few of the others. He sat in silence, tail lightly swaying as he watched Nevaeh take care of the weapons. He knew the silver would burn her, even if only a little, if she touched it. He actually enjoyed full moons. Silver didn't hurt nearly as much, but could still cause damage if inflicted with enough of it. Hunters should know better than to ever hunt during the full moon; The creatures liked to stir and feed off the power that came from a bright round moon.
"I love you, too, Lynna. How about a bath when we're done?" The werewolf asked, biting into his own half-gone apple. He wanted to spend the day solely with his mate, to learn more about her and understand her wants and needs. -
Nevaeh silently lifted Daniel up, setting him into the grave carefully. She helped Rhonen cover him, and then turned away. It was a few minutes before she realized that she had just killed someone, a human. The sobs that shook her body were little at first, and then so bad that she actually set on the cabin steps, trying to calm herself down.
"Mm. Yeah. I wont be able to stay in long, though.. It's getting pretty cold," She explained, giving him a little smile. She finished the apple, and tossed the core away. -
Rhonen frowned and found it difficult to stay in his feral form any longer. With each step he became more like the man Nevaeh knew until he was at her side, settling down beside her and nuzzling her wet cheeks. He knew she hadn't meant to hurt anyone; She had only been trying to protect everyone. "Come here.." He murmured, wrapping his mate in his arms around holding her close to his chest. The brunette did whatever he could to comfort her.
"That's right, you can still get cold. Don't worry, love, I'll keep you warm. If you ever feel cold, you come to me and let me warm you up." Jule smiled and nuzzled noses with her after finishing his apple, core and all. -
The huntress pressed close to him, letting herself cry for a while. When she was done, she stayed there, breathing slowly. "I.. I trained him. He was brilliant, for as young as he was. Two and a half years younger than me, actually. He's.. Only twenty one, Rhonen. And I killed him." She didn't know what she was talking, why there was any point in explaining it at all.
Lynna grinned, standing carefully. She held a hand out to him. "I'm sure you'll keep me all cozy.." -
"You did it to protect your family. Being a werewolf now, could you feel it?" Rhonen asked gently, rubbing a hand over her shoulder and gritting his teeth. He wouldn't forget what he sensed with that boy. "You could feel the anger, the hatred, the cold-heartedness around him. Whatever you may have felt him, and he for you, iI believe it's no longer there. You did what you had to to protect us, and I wish reason would've been possible with him. But it wasn't. He felt.. absolutely nothing when it came to death and killings.."
"Of course I will. As your big strong mate, I will do whatever it takes to meet your wants and needs." Jule smiled and took her hand in his own. -
"I.. Didn't even hesitate." She sighed, looking up at the sky. The sun was a little past directly above them, so it was a little past noon. Twelve thirty or so. "We.. I didn't feel anything for him. He had a crush, back when we were working together, but I.. He was just seventeen then, I thought it would go away. But there was this huge job about a year ago. These wolves.. They weren't like you. Looking back, they were probably all sick. Ten or so, mostly males.. They'd attacked a ground of children that had been playing in the forest. Slaughtered them. So.. Anyways, I.. Got trapped, and he sort of rescued me, and I guess in his head, that made me owe him. So he tried to kiss me, and I.. Stabbed him in the leg. It was a huge misunderstanding."
"Mm. Well, oh big strong mate, I'd like a piggy back ride," She laughed a bit. -
"Well, I'm glad you two never became a thing. I would've never been able to be with you if he were in the way. Then again, if you'd never been bitten, you probably would've left by now." Rhonen hummed, taking one of her hands into his own. He couldn't imagine what would've happened had Nevaeh never been bitten. She wouldn't have believed a thing about soulmates, nor would she have believed that Rhoneb was her soulmate. The brunette exhaled deeply, slowly shutting his eyes. "No matter what he believed, he shouldn't have lain a single hand on you. There are better ways to express one's passion than.." He cut himself off, gritting his teeth again.
"Why of course. Anything for my Lynna. Hop on up." He laughed lightly as he turned to expose his back to her. Such a task was simple enough, and he was more than willing to do it. -
"I probably wouldn't.. But, let's not worry about that, alright, love? I was, and I did stay, so.. Rhonen," She mumbled a bit, unsure of if the tone that creeped into his voice was jealousy or protectiveness. Perhaps he was just being territorial. After all, jealousy was wanting what wasn't yours. And she was his, so.. She pushed her thoughts aside, standing to hold a hand out towards him. "We should get back. Who's Aniel with? I want my baby.."
She let out a very happy little squeal, quickly moving to climb onto his back, gently wrapping her arms around his neck. "Careful with my leg," She reminded him, before pressing her cheek against his neck.
(Did I mention how short Lynna is? Five foot flat.) -
(Jealousy is actually the worry of losing something you already have. Envy is wanting something you don't have. :3)
"I know, I know.." He murmured, standing and taking her hand in his own. He knew he'd never have to worry about losing his mate, especially not to another man. Seeing as she was turning, she could feel what he did and knew they were made solely for each other. He nodded lightly, walking back with her close to his side. "Aniel's with Rayne. I'm sure he's waiting for us to have lunch together. Then we can go hunting."
Jule smiled and nodded, being aware of her still wrapped injury. He would have to take her to get it checked after their bath. "How does it feel? I know it's hard to walk and that trap sunk in pretty deep.."
(omg she's smaller than me) -
(I thought the two words were interchangeable. Google says I'm right, and if it's on the internet, it MUST be true! >:V)
"Lunch.. I forgot about that. Um, would you mind if I skipped to go swim in the lake? I'm still not very hungry," She sighed, looking up at him for a second before directing her gaze back at the ground. She knew he would argue with her, but she really didn't feel like stomaching any food, not after what had just happened.
"Um.. It hurts, but I wasn't really focusing on that. How're you? Do your hips hurt any, or anything like that?" She knew, of course, that first times like their's last night sometimes left echos for a while.
