She slowly climbed long the seat and laid down, situating herself partially on top of him out of necessity. At first, it was uncomfortable and awkward to be laying like that, but she felt slightly better after reminding herself that vampires were supernaturally strong, so having the weight of another humanoid over him probably wasn't that restricting. She counted the layers between them in her head, just to remind herself that she wasn't really touching Seth. Imogen caught herself starting to calm down as she realized that he wouldn't attack her. Probably.
"No, that's fine," he replied quietly, tensing as he felt Kayle's cold lips and tongue on his neck. He pulled away as soon as the brunet was finished, and hurried off to retrieve a first aid kit. Either the vampire wasn't as innocent as previously imagined or the Hunter needed to get his head out of the gutters, but Isaac couldn't deny that the sharing of his blood, once both had agreed to it, was slightly... sensual. Maybe even sexual. It was a bit much to think about, and it kept him out of the room way longer than it took to search for the kit. -
Seth didn't feel very comfortable himself at first, not really liking being pressed against the seat, but when he felt her body heat, he eased and closed his eyes. He exhaled deeply, readying for a day's rest. Of course he wouldn't do anything to harm her, seeing as she was the only one who knew where they were going and there was no reason to. He knew that in the end, he could easily slaughter both Imogen and her cousin, but he wouldn't. So long as Kayle was safe, their lives would be spared. This would also result in them having to move again, something he'd rather not do, but would have to.
In all the years he'd been undead, the brunette had learn to be gentle and kind when he bit another. Most vampires were aggressive, acting as if they were starving or angry at the world. But Kayle was content, knowing well that his way of feeding could be misinterpreted as an act of love, though in this case, it likely was. He'd learned that lovers, especially vampires, would sometimes bite each other to show their love. Thinking it over, the now embarrassed vampire hid under the covers. "..We haven't even considered.." The boy mumbled to himself while waiting for Isaac's return. -
Eventually, Imogen shifted so that her entire body was on top of his, letting him take all of the seat. She had to admit that, once they had both calmed down, he was extremely comfortable. He was as soft as he was firm, and through all of the layers between them she could only feel her own warmth. Maybe he wasn't as bad as she'd thought. The human reminded herself to be more wary of Seth as she rested her head on his chest, right where his heartbeat should have been, and found herself naturally synchronize with his breathing. Exhaustion hit her, and she was out before she knew it.
Isaac eventually returned with the kit. As he settled beside the bed so that Kayle could care for him, he tried to take his mind off of the other boy. "What do we do now? We should figure out our next... would move be the right word? Anyway, I'll head downstairs and close all of the blinds for you." -
The vampire took a deep breath, starting to drift off after Imogen got comfortable. He couldn't really feel her heat directly, but it built up in the blanket between them and that was good enough for him. Although, once her head was on his chest, he felt a bit embarrassed about lying in such a position. This was the way couples lied, wasn't it? The very thought made him frown, having not considered being with someone for many years. He couldn't, wouldn't drag someone into this life again. Having his younger brother suffer with him was bad enough. He made a small whimper, saddened by his thoughts.
"I don't know. I think...since you're safe now and all, I should go back. My brother's probably worried about me." The brunette frowned, not really wanting to be away from the human after all their time together. And they did kiss, Kayle realized, for the first time just now. Clearly there were unspoken feelings. "But I don't know if I want to.. I like being out and about. And you aren't going anywhere until I've patched you up." Kayle grabbed the first aid kit, still keeping himself out of the light, and began to clean and patch the blonde's neck. -
Their breathing gradually fell out of sync as she slept, hers growing much slower. Imogen didn't think much of the way in which they were laying, other than that it was comfortable and that she was happy to finally be sleeping. She hadn't actually slept for at least a day or two, and it was hard to believe that the night before was only
five pagesa few hours prior.
She slept soundly for an hour, eventually shifting so that she was leaning against the back of the seat, and then so that she was laying on her back.
"At least stay for a few days. I don't think... I don't think you have any reason to go back so quickly. Wait until tonight. Or tomorrow night." He tensed as the vampire took care of the bite, the cleansing wipe from the kit striking him with a sterile, uncomfortable sort of cold. For the first time, Isaac realized that there was a definite difference between types of cold. This was also the first time that he realized the lack of heat from the vampire was the most comfortable sort, the sort that, even when it tore through him and down to his bones, he wouldn't give up for anything.
As soon as the wound was patched, the human stood to close the window, stopping most of the sunlight from entering the room. He gestured for the vampire to follow as he walked out into the hallway, closing off any access the sun might have into the home. -
After contemplating his existence for who knows how long, Seth managed to close his eyes and get some sleep. Although, the position he slept in was strange; His arms up and hands at each side of his head. Most people would be embarrassed to have their armpits exposed either because they were ticklish or they smelled. He was neither of those. Vampires typically didn't sweat, so their skin wouldn't create body odor. The only thing that bothered him was that Imogen would move around while lying on him. He wanted to put an arm around her to keep her still, but moment he brought said arm out, the sun would burn it. So he simply bared with the young woman's moving around.
"...Okay. Just for you." Kayle smiled, watching him go to close the window's blinds. The more he thought about it, the longer he wanted to stay. But he knew that was impossible. Isaac's parents would return eventually, and they wouldn't be nearly as kind to him as their son, or his brother would find him. At least for the time being, he'd spent every moment with the blonde, no matter how much it would hurt to seperate later.
He stood, taking a blanket with him to block any sun that tried to sneak past Isaac. As they walked, Kayle took in the surroundings, looking for anything of particular interest. -
She shifted around one more time in her sleep, back on her stomach once again. The blanket was mostly off of her at this point, and she'd pushed his coat away in her fidgeting. She could feel how cold he was, but as tired as she was, she honestly didn't care. Her fingers loosely clutched the fabric of his shirt instead of the blanket, and her soft, steady breathing commenced.
Half an hour later, the tow truck finally arrived. Imogen was pulled awake by the sound of it, and slowly sat up to go talk to the driver. She left Seth with the blanket and crawled down the seat, opening the door and getting out. As she walked over, she instantly had a bad feeling about... something.
He glanced back at the vampire every now and then, feeling as if he'd won a small victory. So he'd have the other's company for at least one more night. He didn't want to think about what would happen after that, or how he'd explain the gentle, fresh bites to his parents. The scar from the older vampire was understandable-- escaping the beast with only a scar was a story he knew he'd have to share time and time again. However, knowing that wherever Kayle went, that monster would be as well...
He didn't want to think about that. Breakfast needed to be his priority. He was starving. "Do you drink coffee?" he asked Kayle, glancing back as he shut an open door. -
Seth was fast asleep, until he felt the girl's hands on his shirt, lightly griping the fabric. That was also when he realized the blanket had been knocked away. He smiled from beneath the jacket that covered his face, glad to finally have the heat he craved, and took a deep breath of content. He wouldn't mind lying like that for awhile longer, but the incoming tow truck disturbed their peaceful rest, Imogen left the blanket over and moved to get out of the SUV. The vampire tried to peek out at her, but found it difficult with what sun was left, and adjusted under the blanket.
The brunette would avert his eyes whenever they met Isaac's, trying to keep his mind of the other, but he couldn't. The blonde was gorgeous in his eyes, and he wanted nothing than to be with him, even if it were only a single night. Kayle wanted this human more than anything..
Pulled from his thoughts, he finally looked up at the other and shook his head. "Oh no. I don't care for coffee all that much. But I like espressos and chocolately stuff. Or tea. Tea is good, too." He smiled sweetly, following Isaac all around the house. -
"So, Miss Imogen... Strokwell?" the driver asked, reading from a dirty clipboard. The redhead verified that that was, in fact, her name.
"I don't know what they told you about the car, but I can explain again if you need it. I'm not great with cars, though--"
"How old are you, uh, Imogen?" he asked as he looked her over in a way that seriously made her want to rush back into the car. To her surprise, she answered honestly. He smiled to himself a bit, though it wasn't exactly friendly. At all. "And you're out here alone?"
Suddenly, every red flag created by her intuition went up, telling her to get out of there as soon as possible. However, since that wasn't socially acceptable, it instead supplied her with an excellent, but overused, lie. "Actually, my boyfriend's asleep in the car. Need me to wake him up before you load the...?" She didn't finish her sentence, because his sudden mood change sent her back to the car with newfound relief. Her nerves returned as soon as she realized that Seth had no idea what was going on, and that he... wasn't really likely to play along. Still, it was worth warning him.
"Hey, babe, wake up," she said as she opened the door, loud enough for the driver to hear. Then she ducked in and brought her voice to a whisper. "Seth, long story, but... I need you to pretend to be my boyfriend. That guy's a creep. I'll repay the favor later, somehow. Please get up."
Once they reached the bottom of the stairs, he told Kayle to wait and hurried into the kitchen. First, he removed the maps detailing prior, current, and future hunts, and the notes to go along with them. Then he stashed away the excess hunting gear, most of which had been left by his parents. Finally, he blocked out all sunlight and called the vampire in. "Sorry about that... I'm going to make myself some breakfast. Are you still hungry? Does... does human food even taste good to you?" Now, he realized how little he knew. Killing them was one thing but... he knew nothing about the species otherwise. It occurred to him as he started on coffee and put a kettle on the stove that maybe, if he knew more, he wouldn't be hunting. -
Seth could hear Imogen's voice along with a man, some creep by the sound of the questions he asked. Poor girl. If she were undead, she could just rip his throat out for saying the wrong thing. But she was just a human girl. He tried to get back to sleep but heard the redhead call for him to wake up, calling him 'babe'. He cocked an eyebrow and carefully sat up, keeping the blanket over himself. "Why are you calling me that? Is the sun still out?" He questioned as he stretched a bit, listening to her request for his help. He smirked, peeking out at her only with his eyes. "Oh? Your boyfriend? Well then, how about a kiss, darling? Gotta make it convincing, right?" His smirk spread to a grin ad he continued. "And I want to taste your blood in return."
Kayle stood in silence, waiting to be told he could go in. He knew that Isaac was doing more than closing the blinds on the windows. Every hunter had their base of operations, he'd only expected it to be in a basement or attic, somewhere more hidden than the kitchen. Still, he didn't say anything about it when he was finally allowed to come in and took a seat at the table. "Normal food is okay, but..It doesn't taste the same as when I was alive. It doesn't satisfy the thirst either.. If you can't eat everything you make, I can take some of it." -
Imogen's nose wrinkled in disgust. Seth was almost worse than the man outside. At least the vampire wouldn't assault and abandon her on the side of a road. She assumed. "A kiss, maybe. Blood... ugh, fine. But only when I say so, and you have to stop when I tell you to. Get up, please." She reached over to lift up the coat and block him from the sun as he sat up. She was going to regret this for sure.
"Great," he replied, opening the fridge and peeking in, grabbing a box of eggs, some shredded cheese, and a package of bacon from the freezer. As he started to prepare the food he'd selected for cooking, he glanced over at the blanketed vampire. "Wait, how old are you, Kayle?" the shirtless hunter asked, turning to the stove to start cooking. -
"Aww, but the kiss would make it seem so much more real." Seth teased but smiled when she helped block him from the sun. "You know, the reason I want a bite of you is because you smell divine, and you have so much energy. I want some for myself. Vampires don't just drink blood, they take in the energy of that human, or animal, which makes them stronger. A starved vampire is weak, a well-fed vampire is strong and stable, and an over-fed vampire is a monstrosity." He explained to her but didn't expect her to understand or for her views on his kind to change.
Kayle was lightly tracing a finger over the smooth wood finish of the table while Isaac cooked. He'd loved bacon when he was alive, his brother too, and missed it's taste more than any other food he'd had. Truthfully, he wished he could still eat regular food and taste every bit of it. But there was something about being dead that killed a lot of one's tastebuds as well. The brunette looked up at the question, biting his lower lip nervously. "I had just turned eighteen when I was turned. I...I'm probably as old as your great grandpa." Kayle smiled awkwardly, not liking the reminder of howlong he'd been a monster. -
"Fine. And that's... almost creepier than the man out there, Seth." Obviously, she didn't like being talked about as if she were food. Then again, that was pretty much all she was to this creature, no matter how human he could look or act. As soon as he was out of the car and they were visible to the driver, she reached up and kissed him, not realizing until afterwards that it didn't have to be on the lips to look convincing. They waited patiently outside the car as it was connected to the back of the tow truck.
"Hey, I'll be eighteen in a few months." He grinned at the thought, knowing that it meant he'd be able to, for the most part, make his own decisions in the hunting community. Sure, hunters became mostly independent on their fifteenth birthday, but this meant that he'd be free to leave home, maybe even the hunting business as a whole. "Maybe you knew my great grandfather? I've heard that he was supposed to be a great hunter and everything, so he was probably an a--hole." Isaac shrugged, turning to look at Kayle. -
"Sorry. That's the best way a vampire can compliment a human. Based on their warmth or their scent." Seth shrugged, getting out to stand with her. He shot a 'defensive' glare at the driver and smiled at the peck to his lips. He stood behind her, wrapping his blanket-covered arms around her stomach and resting his head on her shoulder. He tried to stay out of the sun and act as boyfriend-like as possible. Once the guy was gone, he knew they'd be back to their bickering ways.
"Possibly. We've been hunted by a lot of people in our lives. Which is why we try to limit how much we eat and move around, so we aren't noticed. Do you really think we've lived in this area for eighty years?" Kayle joked with a giggle, locking eyes with the much younger male. A rush of melancholy came over him as he thought about Isaac's upcoming birthday. "Must be nice looking forward to a birthday. They don't really mean much when you never age. Just another year of sipping blood and suffering.." -
Imogen tensed as the vampire's arms wrapped around her, but she relaxed as soon as she realized that it was part of their act. The fact that his mouth was so close to her neck made her uncomfortable, but she took a deep breath to calm down a bit and try to look like they were a completely normal couple. She giggled a bit before reaching up to his hands and squeezing one gently. Maybe they were putting a bit too much effort into their act.
"That's depressing. Maybe it sounds vain, but you'll always look gorgeous. No wrinkles, no nothing. Do you remember when your birthday is? Because I'd definitely celebrate it with you. You know, once I'm out of here and can do what I want." The hunter was optimistic, but it seemed to be just what the vampire needed at the moment. He put the eggs and bacon on two plates, then brought them out to the table. "Oh, and... just so you know, I know my family keeps fresh blood downstairs, in the case of more... traditional vampire visits. That's also where most of the weapons are, so... if you're not comfortable going down, I'm comfortable with grabbing some for you."
