"You don't know--" she stopped, glancing around the darkened space. Could she admit that her opinion would probably change, especially if he gave her a reason for it? Not being raised a Hunter, she wasn't that opposed to vampires. Then again, when they kidnapped her cousin...
"Anyway, meet me outside. I parked not too far away, you'll probably be able to hear me or smell me or something. Don't bring any... food." The Hunter started to head in the opposite direction, then paused. "Uh... where's the door? I didn't exactly come in through it."
Okay, he had to stop. As cute as it was to watch the vampire's reactions, they wouldn't get anywhere if he continued. At this point, he realized that he'd never actually seen his companion's face clearly. This made him all the more eager to get to their destination. "Nevermind," he replied. "Let's keep going." -
"I know. Believe me, I know." Seth told her as he moved to walk in front of her. He knew she was lost, and he didn't want to bother taking her all the way to the main entrance then going back and forth between his room and that same entrance. "Just come with me. I'll only be a minute to pack up my things. Superhuman speed, ya know?" Seth told her, leading the way to his sleeping quarters, seeing as it was in the same direction anyway. He then turned back to look at her with raised brows. "But you'll stay out of my room. Too many private things not meant for just anyone to see."
The younger brother was relieved when Isaac stopped toying with him. He didn't know how much more he could take before he he dropped the larger boy. Of course, Kayle wouldn't know what to do, but he knew he'd go for the lips if they were inviting of him. He wanted to build up their relationship before that. Slowly. Carefully. The vampire wanted it to be perfect. But for now, he focused on running and getting to safety. -
But did he really know? She followed him quietly, a bit annoyed that she had to wait around with him. Imogen needed to be back in a space where she had just as much control, and outside of his bedroom was not that space. She curled her fingers around, tapping each fingertip with her thumb and repeating the action as she walked. Now that her life wasn't in absolute danger, her habits started to subconsciously reappear. Imogen waited outside of his room, leaning against one of the walls. Her heart rate was finally returning to normal.
Isaac tried not to fall asleep as Kayle ran. At this point, he was comfortable with the coolness of his companion's body, and with how smoothly he ran, it was getting a bit difficult to stay awake. He knew he had to stay awake to work more and more on his plan. He already knew the next step, which would probably involve anywhere from a little bit to a lot of lying. He just had to figure out exactly how it'd go. -
Ears pricked at the sound of the girls heart rate, it was easy telling that she'd finally begun to relax and feel more comfortable when he wasn't at her throat. While hurriedly packing a bag with necessities, the older vampire began to ponder on exactly how his prisoner escaped, with his brother, in the first place. How long had it been since the Huntress showed up? An hour? Two hours? He wasn't sure, but he knew a human wouldn't get far on foot, even with that much time inbetween. Still, Seth growled at the thought of his baby brother in any kind of danger or pain and rushed out of his room, grabbing the redhead's wrist and pulling her towards the main entrance.
Kayle glanced back at Isaac, feeling him begin to go limp. He knew the blonde was tired, probably exhausted, but he needed to know what he was looking for. "Isaac, please don't fall asleep yet. Tell me what I'm looking for and I'll stop when I get there." The young vampire surprisingly let this human, this Hunter, plan everything out. Kayle trusted him enough to let him call the shots. -
She was trying to pay attention as she waited for him to return from his room. She knew that being this close to a vampire, alone, was incredibly risky and foolish. Even though either one killing the other would be detrimental to their search, she still had to be just a little cautious. For a second, she was tempted to peek into the room, just to see why he wasn't comfortable with her looking in. Really, what could he do to her? Again, murder wouldn't be an option, and calling off the search? She knew he wasn't stupid enough to do that. Imogen heard a low growl from inside the bedroom and almost turned to look, but was stopped by him rushing out and grabbing her arm. Why the sudden hurry?
"Sorry," he murmured, his grip readjusting and tightening a bit. His head had started to fall, almost resting on the vampire's shoulder. Isaac yawned and glanced around. "Okay. You should head a bit north, now. I'm guessing... another hour?" The plan. And, of course, a shower and an actual bed. That was why he had to stay awake for now. -
Seth was tense, his jaw clenched shut until they were outside, in which case he asked the Huntress where she'd left her car. He wanted to get going, even though she hadn't told him where they were planning to go. The thought came to mind that they didn't even know eachother's names. "..My name is Seth, by the way." He figured if they were working together, they might as well know what to call each other. Although, once he had his brother back, knowing each other wouldn't matter anymore.
Kayle smiled, enjoying the warmth of the other's breath on his shoulder. Humans may be afraid of vampires, but they sure were warm when one of the undead was near them. The boy had always enjoyed the warmth that came from humans. "North west bound? Okay." His arms tightened around Isaac's legs, holding him closer while he ran. -
She had trouble stopping so quickly as they headed outside, and ran into his back. Now that they were outside, she tried to pull her wrist from his grip. Stepping away as she was freed, she explained that she'd parked a short distance from the house, toward the city. "Uh, Imogen. Nice to meet you-- well, no offense, but not really." She wasn't sure what the point of introductions was, especially since they'd be the only ones working on this and would part ways afterward. Then again, it was sort of nice to know his name.
He did his best to hide his reaction to being held onto even more tightly, and probably managed to conceal it well. At this speed, he figured they only had ten or twenty more minutes until they arrived. His surroundings were starting to feel familiar once again. -
"It would be nice if I didn't want to kill you for trying to kill me, Imogen." He said her name, letting it linger on the tongue for a moment. He liked the sound it, perhaps even loved it, but despised her with his entire being. The only purpose of knowing her name was to have something to call her by other than 'girl'. Seth sighed and followed her, carrying his bag over his shoulder while he walked. "Let's just get going."
"What am I looking for? The woods are starting to thin out. We'll be in residential or farmland soon." Kayle told him, still moving and keeping his eyes open for anything out of the ordinary. Out of the ordinary besides a vampire helping a human escape the vampire's older brother. -
"It would be nice if you hadn't held my cousin hos...," she replied, trailing off. There was no reason to bring it back up. They'd need to keep on decent terms, and bringing up that argument wasn't helping. She fished her keys out of her pocket as they approached the vehicle, hitting the tiny button on the remote. The SUV's lights blinked at them in the darkness.
"It's an old farmhouse," he replied, happy to be somewhere he finally recognized. The house itself appeared fairly normal; what made it strange was the fact that the many acres around it, all owned by the Strokwell family, were completely unused, spare a few large patches of trees. Even though all of the lights were off and he could hardly see, he could tell as they approached his home. He squeezed Kayle's arm a bit, telling him to stop. As soon as they were in the yard, he crawled off of the vampire's back and walked over to the porch, stretching his legs. -
Seth was ready to turn on her, bare his teeth, glare, maybe even bite at her, but she'd silenced herself before he could get the chance to. He made a noise somewhere between a scoff and a snort, shaking his head lightly. The vampire would relish being back to his peaceful life of solitude once his younger brother was returned. Pulled from his thoughts by the sudden brightness, Seth hissed and covered his eyes. Light didn't burn like the sun, but it sure as hell hurt to look at any bright light.
"I've always wanted to stay at a farmhouse.." Kayle murmured as he came to a stop, helping Isaac off his back. For the first time in his supernatural life, he felt cold once the blonde was away from him. The brunette pursed his lips and followed after him, wanting to stay close to him. "Um, so what do we do now? Where are we going after here?" -
"Put your stuff in back, then get in." She opened the passenger door and climbed in, then started the car. Imogen waited patiently for him to join her, then remembered that they'd need directions. She turned as the trunk opened, its automatic lights further combating the darkness outside. "Oh, and can you grab the maps and my phone from the little pocket on the side of my bag? Thanks, Seth." She didn't think much of it, but the soft, fluid sound of his name as it rolled off her tongue was pleasant. She could get used to the way it felt.
He tried not to show how happy the last question made him. We. They were sticking together. He walked up the steps and retrieved the spare key from its hiding place, then unlocked the door. "First things first, I need a shower and some sleep. My parents won't be here for a few days, so we're free to figure something out." -
Seth made a sort of grunting sound as he placed his things in the trunk, grabbing what the girl had asked for. Some maps creased in multiple ways and Imogen's phone which he curiously looked at. He still had to shield his eyes from the lights as he made his way to the passenger window, lightly knocking on it for her to roll the glass barrier down. He wanted to get in the car and out of the light. Seth was honestly a bit upset that he didn't grab sunglasses and hoped the redhead would have a pair he could use.
"Oh. Okay." Kayle hummed and continued to follow him. The brunette was fiddling his thumbs a bit, feeling a bit nervous being in the home of hunters and fearing that Isaac's parents could return from what he could only assume was their work at any momenf. He didn't really need to sleep, not at night, but it was nice to sleep through the day unless it was dark from rain clouds. "Um..where can I rest? If it's all right with you I mean.." -
She reached over to open the car door, looking at how he was squinting. She quickly took the phone and the maps, then gestured to the glovebox. "There are sunglasses in there, if the light's bothering you." She couldn't remember if she still had her preferred pair in there, realizing that he might have to resort to the spare: large, bright red heart-shaped sunglasses that was permanently in the car after a friend insisted that she needed them there. As soon as he got in and shut the door, they were off.
He shrugged. "Wherever you're comfortable." He walked in and flicked on the light as soon as he was down the hallway, contemplating raiding the fridge. Deciding it could wait, he headed for the stairs. "I mean, technically Hunters are expected to keep vampires in containment or in their sight whenever one presents themselves. So... that'd be a cage in the basement or my room," he said nonchalantly. "And really, the only space you'd be comfortable sleeping in my room would probably be my bed, so that's open. Whatever you prefer." With that, he was off to shower. -
Once more, Seth made some sort of noise in response instead of speaking. He didn't want to talk anymore. Just look for his brother during the night and sleep through the day while Imogen searched. The vampire didn't want to befriend her or grow attached, as if he ever would with a human. A hunter no less. The very thought of it made him scoff lightly as he dug around in the glove box for the sunglasses, not really caring what they looked like so long as they did the job.
"I don't wanna be in a cage.. It's probably smaller than the one in our cellar." His eyes went wide with worry, but he figured Isaac wouldn't do that to him. Still, he lightly sniffed the air as he explored the upstairs for the blonde's room. Once he'd figured out which one it was, he closed up the blinds on the windows to block out as much sun as possible then started to remove his clothing until he was in nothing but his t-shirt and boxers. He carefully climbed into Isaac's bed, leaving a space for him, and snuggled under the covers for warmth. -
Imogen found the quiet to be a bit awkward. Talking didn't mean that they'd become inseparable, and the noises he was making were a bit awkward to listen to. After a few minutes of silence, she turned on the radio for the sake of noise. She glanced at Seth out of the corner of her eye, noting the serious, irritable expression and the cute, but out of place, sunglasses. Trying not to laugh, she returned her eyes to the road. "So... I'm assuming they're at my cousin's house. If we keep driving, we should get there just before dawn, since it's," she glanced down at the clock, pausing, "yeah. We should get there before the sun starts coming up."
Isaac took a quick shower, enjoying the feeling of the warm water pounding on his back for the first time in a week or so. He changed into a clean pair of boxers as soon as he dried off, then brushed his teeth twice to clear away the last of the physical evidence of his time in the cage. Finished, he stared at himself in the mirror for a moment, then opened the bathroom door and flicked off the light, walking down to his bedroom. He yawned and stretched a bit as he entered, not seeing the vampire until he was next to the bed. Climbing under the sheets, he smiled at his companion. "Good choice, he murmured sleepily, immediately cuddling up next to Kayle.
