Seth sneered at the radio, not caring for modern music. He preferred purely instrumental, string instruments and pianos, maybe even an acustic guitar every now and then. But not any of the 'work' made by computers and electronics. He didn't know how Kayle could get so hooked to modern era anything. It grew more and more indecent as the years passed. He glanced at Imogen under the sunglasses, noticing her trying to hold back a smile. The ancient male rolled his eyes and looked at the sky. "I doubt that. The sun will rise sooner than you think."
Kayle was curled under the sheets, his hearing advanced enough to figure out when Isaac was done with his shower. Although the blonde didn't come to bed right away, so the vampire closed his eyes to try to rest. It was hard when the sun wasn't up yet though. He was drifting when Isaac finally joined him, and smiled at the sound of his voice. "How was it a good choice?" He asked softly as he pressed his back against the other's stomach, wanting to steal every bit of body heat from him. "So warm.." He murmured. -
"Then we'll figure something out, I guess. You can change the station, if you want." She lazily tapped the steering wheel, realizing that she'd be driving a lot of straight stretches with hardly anyone else on them. Even small talk would be welcome, if it'd keep her alert. "How old are you?" she asked with uncertainty.
"Because now I get to cuddle up with you," he told him quietly, another yawn escaping his throat. For a moment, the mostly-nude Hunter tensed at the closeness of the chilly vampire. As he got used to it, however, he had no choice but to let his arms wrap loosely around Kayle. He sleepily breathed his thanks, then dozed off in a matter of minutes. -
The vampire quickly retuned the radio to a station with more classical music, he even enjoyed a bit of opera now and then. But instrumental was fine for now. He really didn't want to talk, especially about himself, but decided to be honest with her for a moment. "I can't remember how old I am. I stopped counting after awhile. But I was in my twenties when I became a vampire."
Kayle was more than flattered by the response and couldn't help smiling. Isaac was so sweet and kind, and, as the young vampire noted so many times before, very warm. Once he was sure the other was asleep, the brunette shifted and turned over to bury his face in the blonde's chest, blocking himself in case the sun came up. Kayle shut his eyes, finally drifting off in the comfort of the other. -
(we should time skip to like... car breaking down/them waking up)
"Really? Any memories of huge historical events or anything?" she asked, staring out into the night as she drove. The classical music was boring, but she'd do anything to stop the vampire's complaints. Then again, if she had to drive for the next few hours to this, she might end up pushing him out of the car and hunting down the pair herself. "You can't tell me that there's nothing you remember."
He eventually got used to the chill of the other's body, and slept peacefully for the first time in days. His arms tightened around the other figure. -
(I'll do the skip right now~)
Seth pursed his lips in thought, thinking back to how old he really was. He didn't want to remember, but he could, vividly. His chest swelling with hatred. "World War Two. Before I was even a vampire, I was young then. I remember hearing about it from eavesdropping on my mother's conversations. The way humans fight.. It's disgusting. I remember when my mother passed away from old age. I felt horrible because I couldn't continue to see her after awhile, I hadn't aged a day. How would that look? Her sons who look as young and youthful when they were young adults going to their seventy-year-old mother's funeral.. Kayle cried for days when I told him we couldn't go, but we visit her grave whenever we're near home. So that makes him happy." The vampire paused to sigh, peeking up to look at the sky. He didn't know how long they'd been driving, but the sun was coming up fast. He adjusted to make sure he was covered from the sun's rays. "He's adapted so easily to this modern world, but a lot of it is still strange to me."
Kayle made a small noise of distress when he felt a bit of light hit his face and pulled the covers up more to block it out. Although, being buried in Isaac's chest protected him from most of it. The brunette peeked up at the other, his eyes pulled to the blonde's throat. He was hungry but knew he couldn't just bite the other while he slept. He didn't want the human boy to be angry with him. -
"Wait, so you were born around World War II? You're not... too old, but in some ways that's way worse. You could be my grandpa or something, maybe great grandpa. Which is... way weirder than you being like four hundred years old or something," she said, suddenly noticing that something was going very, very wrong. Fortunately, they were on a small, rural road that she could easily pull off of. She got out of the car and popped the hood, noticing that smoke was coming out from under it. Imogen gestured for the vampire to evacuate as well. She didn't really know much about cars, but she knew they'd be stuck for a while.
Isaac groaned in his sleep and pulled the vampire closer to him, causing his lips to press against his collarbone. He murmured something indistinguishable then returned to peaceful slumber. Eventually, one of his arms brought a blanket up a little further. -
"Stop talking before I bleed you dry. It was only..eighty-something years ago. I probably would've been dead in my early seventies had I still been human." He hissed in annoyance at having to go out in the morning sun. He'd rather sit in the car while she figured out what to do about the smoking engine. "How about I just sit in here, maybe climb in the back seat and sleep until sunset?" He told her in a rather snarky response. He didn't care if the vehicle exploded, knowing well he'd probably live through it and suffering until he full healed. But it was still better than being in the sun.
Kayle tensed at the sudden movement, a gasp escaping him. He became more nervous about his thirst more than ever now that he was so close to Isaac's throat. Maybe just a small bite, a little taste of the blonde's blood on his tongue. The small vampire shifted to bury his face in the side of the other's neck, breathing his natural scent, the slow sound of Isaac's heartbeat in his ears. He opened his mouth, teeth bared and ready as he carefully neared the pulsing jugular. -
"Sure, get in the back or something. I think... I think we'll be okay, we just need to call a..." she trailed off, reaching for her phone in her pocket. Fortunately, she still had service, and she headed to the back of the car as she searched for a number online. Noticing that the vampire was having a bit of trouble hiding from the sun in the back, Imogen reached into the middle seat and grabbed a blanket, tossing it over the back to him. "Here Seth, cover yourself up."
As she got in next to him and started calling, she couldn't help but feel... deflated. It wasn't his fault, but she still felt like his presence was somewhat to blame. She kept herself as far away from the blanketed form as possible as she spoke to the mechanic over the phone.
Suddenly, Isaac's eyes fluttered open and he yawned. He looked around for a moment before his eyes settled on the vampire. "Kayle?" he asked drowsily, slowly pulling away to stretch, "What are you doing?" He rolled onto his back, then his arms shot out and his chest arched upward. -
Seth got comfortable, pulling the blanket over himself to cover any part of his body that wasn't covered by clothing. He even set the sunglasses aside to bury his face in the seat, closing his eyes to try to rest. Imogen seemed to be keeping her distance, but as irritating as she made him, he wanted her heat. Just being near her.. It was impossible not to feel that heat which emitted from her. Slowly, hesitantly he reached a hand out to lightly touch her arm, sighing at the warmth that filled his fingertips. He wanted her to get off the phone share her body heat.
Kayle knew Isaac had woken up, moving with him after his teeth were in the other's throat, wrapping him in his arms securely. He didn't bite hard or very deep, so he hoped the blonde would just let him have a little, just a small bite was all he needed to feel sated. The brunette took a few moments to drink then removed his teeth from the human's neck, slowly licking the puncture wounds. Kayle sat up to stare down at Isaac apologetically. "I was just so hungry... I'm sorry.. I didn't mean to hurt or scare you.." The brunette whimpered, not wanting the young man angry at him. -
Suddenly bothered by his touch, she jerked her arm away and threw a quick glare at the figure, even though he couldn't see her. She had no desire to be near the vampire, and his sudden need to touch her only made him creepier. She then realized how cold his hand was, and pressed herself closer to the other side of the car. The mechanic said that it'd take a few hours for someone to come out and tow her car away, and that it probably wouldn't be fixed until the next day or so. The next twenty-four hours or so would be very... long. As soon as Imogen hung up, she put away her phone and watched the blanket warily. "What do you want? Please don't touch me."
He couldn't help the pained whimper that escaped his throat as the fangs punctured his skin. Sure, he trusted Kayle, but that didn't mean he wanted him biting him without permission. It instantly sent his mind back to the vampire's older brother, and how he would drink to torture him more than anything. His Hunter training kicked in as he tried to push the vampire away, hitting him so that his mouth would fly open and off of his neck. -
Seth frowned and pulled his hand under the blanket again, curling up under the cover. He made a scoffing sound as she seemed to treat him like a disease; It should be the other way around. She wasn't worthy of his presence, he was superior to her and all humans. At least that's how he should be thinking. But he didn't. He felt very unnatural and disgusting, the way Imogen seemed to be treating him. "I hate humans. They get to be warm.." And have heartbeats and blood that rushed to their cheeks when they were flattered or embarrassed. He growled in annoyance, thinking back to when Isaac had still been imprisoned in his home. The boy may not have been able to see it, but if Kayle had been alive, his cheeks would've been lit up almost the entire time. "All I want..is to be warm."
Kayle felt awful about what he'd done the moment the whimpering reached his ears and tried to ask if he was all right. But the vampire didn't get to really form the sentence before the strike knocked him back, causing a gasp to escape him. He hissed when sunlight touched his skin, retreating under the covers while sobbing his apologies. "I'm sorry..! So so sorry! Please...don't hurt me.." -
She rolled her eyes. "Okay. How badly do you need that blanket? Not too much of you needs to be covered, right? I'll trade you my coat for it. I need to get some sleep before I have to deal with the mechanic." Snuggling up with him, which definitely sounded like what he wanted, was out of the question. Imogen was definitely not going to curl up with and help out a monster who had so recently tried to kill her. Now that she had virtually no way to escape if he tried anything, there was no desire to be friendly.
As soon as the vampire was off of him, Isaac had jumped out of the bed and waited on the floor. It took him a moment to process what he'd done, but by that time Kayle was already pleading for mercy. He slowly crept back over to the bed and touched the sobbing, blanketed figure. This was going to be harder than he thought. "Hey. I didn't mean to do that, but... ask next time? I know you need blood, but I'm a Hunter and we've both been taught to attack each other and after the past few..." He trailed off, not wanting to think about the vampire's brother. His fingers moved up to his neck, feeling blood trailing down his skin already, then he stuck his head under the blanket and gently kissed Kayle. Once he moved back from the kiss, he whispered an apology. "We just need to work this out together." -
"Just my face and hands. But you better make the switch quick. I don't wanna burn." Seth snorted from under the covers. He didn't know where she intended to sleep, seeing as he covered practically the entire back seat area on his own, and he figured her leaning back in one of the front seats would only be comfortable for a short while. He had no intention to ask her to sleep next to him, nor did either of them want to do that, but it would be the easiest and most comfortable way for Imogen to sleep. Still, it was up to her what she did.
The brunette calmed at the touch, feeling warmth even through the blanket. He knew he should've asked, but Isaac seemed so peaceful and at ease when he was asleep, so Kayle hadn't wanted to disturb him. Too late for that. He should've known better though, considering how cruel his older brother had been towards the blonde. "I know... I'm sorry." He cooed at the kiss, warm, somewhat soft lips against his frozen ones. He peeked up at Isaac, keeping the sheets over him as if wearing a hoodie to block the sun. His eyes went straight to the blood that still leaked from the small punctures. "..Do you want me to patch that for you?" -
"Here." She removed her coat, immediately feeling unusual without it, and put it over his head. As soon as he adjusted it, she slowly pulled the blanket off of him and put it around her shoulders instead. She glanced into the very back of the car, deciding that it wasn't as ideal as she'd imagined. Then, she turned to look up to her seat, which was far from comfortable for sleeping. Imogen nudged the vampire. "Move over." Fine, she'd have to sleep next to him, but that didn't mean she wasn't going to try to get as much of her own space as possible.
"Uh... yes please. I mean, if you weren't finished, I guess you could now." Isaac shrugged. How long had the vampire been drinking before he woke up? He didn't feel lightheaded at all, so it couldn't have been too long. He felt bad for being so defensive, especially with Kayle peeking out at him like that. How old was he, anyway? They couldn't actually be the same age, but he seemed so young and innocent. -
Seth made sure the coat covered what he needed it to but strongly preferred the blanket. He sighed, trying to close his eyes and rest. But no, Imogen wasn't done making him move or adjust. He groaned at the demand, "You realize that's not possible, don't you? Even if we spooned, you'd probably roll off the edge of the seat." He made a light 'tsk' sound and pressed himself against the back of the seat, trying to make room for her but knowing there wouldn't be enough.
"Let me clean you up first, then I need you to go get the bandages and stuff for me." Kayle scooted close to the blonde again, holding hands under the covers as he leaned into Isaac's throat. "I won't take anymore, so long as you let me lick the wound. Would you mind if I did that? It should help stop the bleeding, too." Kayle knew they were about the same age physically, but knew that he was older. Much older than Isaac. And despite his age, he was fairly ignorant to some things.
