Whoooooooo
-
Name: Imogen Strokwell
Species: Human
Sex: Female
Sexuality: Heterosexual panromantic
Age: 22
Appearance: Here she is! She's about average height and weight.
Other: Imogen has always believed in what she cannot see. Growing up, she was a lover of the paranormal and mythology. While she stopped believing in creatures such as Sasquatch as she got older, she never really gave up her belief in the creatures her family had once supposedly hunted: vampires. She was kept away from her Slayer family during most of her childhood, but her heritage eventually broke through. As soon as she moved out, she tracked down her relatives in hopes of discovering what she believed to be her birthright. Her cousin, Isaac, was the only one who listened to her. The two became very close over email and text, and she plans to help him leave home as soon as he's able.
She isn't artistic in the slightest, but has always found academic and logical thinking fairly easy. Despite this, she can sometimes let her dreamlike optimism get the better of her.
Name: Isaac Strokwell
Species: Human
Sex: Male
Sexuality: Unsure, as he hasn't had much time to experiment. So far, though, he seems to be sort of into all genders?
Age: 17
Appearance: This, pretty much. He is and always has been pretty tall and fit.
Other: While he was raised as a Slayer, he has no desire to be one. He refuses to kill anything (which his parents find disappointing) and has sworn to become vegetarian as soon as he can move out, which he plans to do in a year or so. He's artistic and musically inclined, and has been exchanging emails with his cousin, Imogen, over the past few months. While he doesn't understand her desire to become a Slayer, he'll do what he can to help her out. -
Name: Seth Cruorem
Species: Vampire
Sex: Male
Sexuality: Heterosexual, but lacks much interest as humans are food and other vampires are hard to come by
Age: Young Adult range
Other: Seth is not the kindest creature in the world, he's quite far from it. After years living off of the life essence of lesser beings, the older of the blood brothers has learned a variety of ways to keep their presence more of a secret. Keeping one or two humans as prisoners to feed off of whenever they pleased, nurturing the humans with food and water, so they survived longer. Much easier than drinking every person nearby dry.
His favorite dish being Hunters, feeling as if each one they come by is a threat.
Name: Kayle Cruorem
Species: Vampire
Sex: Male
Sexuality: Undecided
Age: Teenager
Other: Kayle isn't much like his brother at all. He truthfully hates the way they live and finds it difficult to feed off others for so long. Although, he would rather let their captives go, Kayle does his best to take care of them and get them what they needed. Seth tells him to not grow attached because eventually, their meals will die. As much as he'd like to have friends, the younger knows better than to try to befriend any humans.
He's terrified of Hunters as they don't like to listen when he tries to reason with them. They don't last long because they refuse to eat. -
(I'm actually going to make her on the thinner end of the spectrum because that fits better right now?)
Roughly a million stars, gleaming and twinkling their encouragement.
Roughly a hundred clouds, covering the moon and its revealing light.
Roughly half a dozen sounds, keeping the post-twilight alert and prepared.
One Huntress, executing her roughly and hurriedly made plan.
But... combined?
Roughly a billion possibilities for failure.
She didn't think of any of this as she gracelessly crept across the tree branch. She didn't consider her almost guaranteed failure as she slipped down onto the roof, thankful for her lightness and its prevention of any sound as she dropped. She slid, very slowly, down to the edge of the roof. In this moment, there was no time to think about how her foot caught briefly, how her hand scraped against the rough roof, causing it to bleed. There was no time to worry about what could go wrong, because she was so focused on what could go right. And as far as she was concerned, it was. Imogen had never been trained in any way, leading her to believe that a poor performance was far above mediocre. Hopefully, the vampires she was hunting would believe the same.
She dropped into an open window, immediately ducking out of the light that poured in through it. She listened before glancing around. The space appeared to be a guest bedroom, unused for years. She was tempted to wait and further formulate her plan behind the shut door, and chose to. So the Huntress sat and plotted.
Meanwhile, a young Hunter, more afraid than he could admit, was watching his captor. Or, at least... he had been his captor. The boy wasn't sure anymore, especially when the vampire was quickly unlocking the cage in which he'd been held. Isaac crawled over to the little door and pushed himself out as soon as it opened. Though he now stood defenseless, he knew he had no reason to be afraid. This creat-- no, person, had treated him with kindness since he'd first been captured. The elder of the two had been nothing but cruel towards him, something that he'd grown to expect from vampires. However, this one, Kayle, had changed his mind. He was a friend, now, not a threat. And now, as friends, they would escape. -
(You mean body type wise?
Oh my you wrote so much~)
Years, so many years of living in the darkness. Feeding off the life forces of others. Feeling wretched existence. Sure, they could feast on animals, but it wasn't nearly as satisfying nor did it stay down as well. As much as Seth wished he and Kayle could be human, they hadn't had the birthright and were forced to forever live their lives as monsters that burned in the light. Of course it never killed them, it wasn't that easy, it just burned like hell.
Seth was bitter and disgusted with what he was, but even more so he despised the Hunters that tried their damnest to kill them simply because they weren't human. Or because they drank blood. He held one captive, taking pleasure in tearing into the young man's throat whenever he was feeling even the slightest bit peckish, and now another was walking into his home so willingly. The brunette let out a grunt as he stood, making his way through the main hall to greet the newcomer.
The smaller vampire fumbled with the keys, shaking a bit from both fear and excitement as he helped the young Hunter escape. Although, he didn't think the other was a Hunter, but he knew to still be cautious just in case. His eyes, surprisingly a green-blue, looked up at the blonde once he was standing in front of him. Still a bit shaky, Kayle held a hand out to him, a small smile on his lips as he whispered, "I'll take you somewhere even my brother doesn't know about." -
(That would be the thing.)
She retrieved her stake, a silver-tipped piece of wood that her cousin had sent her. You won't use it, but just in case, the note in the package had said. Neither of them had predicted that this would be their just-in-case situation, but here she was. Content with her plan, she made her way over to the door and opened it silently. As she slunk down the hallway, she was sure to listen and watch for any sudden changes, as well as listen to her intuition (which was already on edge due to nerves). Besides, she'd watched plenty of shows and movies with Hunter badasses just like the one she wanted to be. She could imitate that, right?
Isaac nodded and took the vampire's hand after stretching. He'd been locked up for at least a week, in a space that no human, especially one of his size, should've been trapped in. He followed his friend through the darkness, trusting his supernaturally excellent vision more than he could ever give his own eyes credit for. He wasn't sure what drove the elder vampire towards such violence, but he was endlessly thankful to have also met this one. He made everything more bearable. -
Seth stopped, waiting, listening. He could hear it, that distant heartbeat. He could hear it fluctuate and change, and he began to wonder if it would beat faster and louder once he was in front of the intruder. The thought of piercing fear through a Hunter gave him quite the thrill, and the older vampire grinned as he moved forward again, his feet light on the carpeted floors. Seth didn't know if he wanted the stranger to notice him or not, but either way, he'd remain cautious as he followed the sound of that heartbeat.
He gave the human's hand a gentle squeeze and lead him through a passage, hoping his brother wouldn't notice their disappearance. It was difficult to see still, but he figured out where he was going by sense of smell and touch. The smaller brunette was trying to focus on anything that had a scent of nature. He'd never really witnessed anyone die in those 'cells', but he'd seen Seth dispose of the wrapped bodies. He didn't want to see someone close to his age go in the same way. So when he reached an old wooden door that lead to the free world, he could've sworn he'd felt his heart beat. -
She reached a medium landing where two of the staircases met, and glanced around. There seemed to be a little more light filtering in here, though Imogen couldn't really figure out why. She switched the stake over to her non-dominant hand to briefly wiper her clammy one on her pants. Once the weapon had returned to her left hand, she slowly moved back against one of the walls and surveyed the space around her. Knowing that she didn't have to watch her back at this moment helped her a bit, but she could still feel her heart thudding anxiously. She wasn't sure which of the floors she wanted to head up to, but figured her cousin would be in some sort of basement. While it'd be nice to avoid the monsters and buy herself more time, she knew that was a luxury she couldn't have. No matter how quiet she was, they had to know she was there. Every work of fiction regarding vampires had suggested that they had extraordinary senses and abilities. Whether she wanted them to show up or not, they'd be there. So she headed over to the staircase, creeping down it with a new sense of urgency.
He knew that there'd been others. The expertise with which they handled his capture was far too perfect and routine. Their crimes likely went back decades, possibly centuries. Besides, there was something about the cage that had felt like death. He couldn't quite figure out why, as it was a scentless space and far too dark for him to ever actually see it. But the feeling of slow, painful deaths was there. And the wooden door that released him back into the free world seemed to take all of the suffering away. Though it was night, the light outside seemed bright in comparison. He found himself deeply inhaling as they left the premises, enjoying the fresh, open air. -
Seth didn't care if his uninvited guest found him, so he began to whistle a tune as he walked the halls, ears twitching at the echoes that sounded back to him as he did so. He wanted the other to hear, wanted them to be afraid, and their heart was more rapid now. And louder. He glanced towards the staircase, eyes narrowing as he stared down at them. Then with a smirk, he began hurry down the steps, hoping to catch up to the intruder. He was far to excited for the hunt to hold back the words and chuckle that slipped past his lips, "Come out, come out wherever you are. I could use a pint."
Kayle smiled wide as he looked up at the sky. Clouds that just brushed over the full moon, stars twinkling all over the deep blue, nearly black, sky. The air was fresh and cool, and as much as he wanted to stop and roll in the grass, there was no time. They needed to keep moving, to keep running with the strength they had. He looked back at Isaac and gently tugged on his arm, leading him away from his brother's domain. They had to get as far as possible before sunrise, before Kayle had to waste precious hours bundled up somewhere to stay out of the light. -
Imogen raced down the stairs and across the landing, ducking into one of the rooms. Imogen stood a foot or two from the door, clutching the stake so that her knuckles were turning white. Her heart was practically beating out of her chest, which probably only made the vampire more excited. She swore under her breath; all optimism from before had vanished. Now, she'd probably be lucky to make it out alive. She wasn't sure why she came here. Her cousin could manage, he was the Hunter. She was nowhere near qualified enough to hunt down a vampire! Her self loathing only lasted a moment, immediately taken over by instinctual dread. Though she only stood there for a second, if that, it felt like hours.
"Where are we going?" Isaac asked in between breaths. He was faster than almost every Hunter he'd come across, but he struggled to keep up with the vampire. He expected there to be a getaway car. Would the vampire have a car? Could he even drive? As the momentary excitement of escape faded, it was gradually replaced by confusion and doubt. Had they planned anything? Or did they just have a spontaneous whim to flee? He feared the possibility of the latter being true. -
The older brunette scanned the area, the lights of each hall dimmed in order not harm his or his brother's eyes. They honestly didn't need light at all, but any 'guests' would be able to see. And it looked more homey and natural to have lights on in some parts of a home. Seth let out a sigh as he slowly came up to a door, stopping in front of it. He shook his head lightly and chuckled, throwing it open. Fear always gave humans away when they hid from monsters.
"I told you. Somewhere safe. But we need to hurry before the sun comes up." Noticing that he was pulling more weight than he should've been, Kayle stopped and turned to look at the human that struggled to keep up with him. He knew it was impossible for Isaac to keep up on his own, and taking the one vehicle he and his brother owned was out of the question; The motor would surely alert Seth. Kayle knew how to drive, but he despised it, and he wouldn't be able to get fast enough to outrun the older. The only way to go was on foot. Even if it took longer to reach their destination. "..Let me carry you. I can run faster without worrying about dragging you behind." -
She turned as the door opened, trying to plunge the stake into her attacker's chest. Adrenaline rushed through her as her heart practically screamed. There was no way she could win this one; her fate was set in stone as she missed her target. The stake slid from her sweaty palm, tumbling to the edge of the doorway and loudly rolling out. She took a few nervous steps back, tripping as she went. She could tell her mouth was open, but was any noise coming out? The weak, pleading whimpering had to be her, no matter how distant it sounded. Why couldn't he just hurry up and kill her?
"You... are not carrying me," he breathed, standing up as straight as he could to take in more air. A few more seconds of silence passed. "Let's keep going. I'm fine. We should try to find somewhere more populated... a bus or something."
There was no way he could keep up with the vampire, and now knew that driving was out of the question. But there had to be another way. He knew the vampires had a fantastic sense of smell, so wouldn't the two runaways be easily detected? They needed to find a place where other humans would eventually cover or carry their scent if they really wanted to get away. This was the wrong direction for a place like that. -
He had to admit he was surprised to see the Hunter, more accurately Huntress, come directly at him with a stake. He knew plain old wood wasn't enough to end him, not in these days, but they still hurt like hell. Unfortunately for her, she missed, only barely nicking his arm with the silver point. He growled at the burning sensation as he almost immediately had the girl by her throat, using what nails he had to dig into the tender skin, and pressed against the wall. "Maybe you're not as stupid as I expected, but still you lack any experience. Really, why did you even bother coming here? An amateur like you, all you'll be useful for is food."
The young vampire pouted a bit at the decline to carry the other. "But it'd be so easy to carry you.." He also didn't much lie the idea of riding on a bus. Yes, it would mask their sent, but it was also slower with all the stopping. "We have to go far away, out of this town. A bus probably won't get us where we need to go. And I..." Kayle trailed off, looking down and fiddling with his thumbs. He looked nervous, scared even, before he continued. "I don't want anyone to figure out what I am.. and the sun. What would we do during the day?" -
She squirmed against his grip, stopping as soon as she realized that her movement was only allowing his hold on her to dig in deeper. Her arms shot up to grab his, trying to keep him from coming any closer. Still, she wasn't able to escape before his nails managed to break her skin. Realizing the danger that her injury put her in, she tried to hold some degree of composure as she spoke. She wasn't sure if she could even hear herself over her rapid, deafening heartbeat.
"My... my cousin. I know you have him, and I'll kill you and everyone involved to get him back," she snarled. Wow, she sounded fiercer than expected. Maybe she could turn this around?
"Well... how do you plan on hiding out here? You realize we could take... wait." He walked over to one of the trees around them and leaned back against it, trying to make a plan. "So... we can't take your car, we can't take a bus... I live maybe a day's distance from here. I know it'd be easy to avoid my parents, especially since they're out hunting as well. Wait, how fast can you run?"
