He moved to the mast, ignoring the hungry stares of the men aboard. Fastening the belt to where it would be tight once Landon slipped his hands him, he took the boy's wrists, doing just that.
-
Landon followed the man and stopped behind him. He watched as he took his wrists and put them through the belt.
-
Olan sighed, and step back, holding the whip with two hands. "Alright, mates," His voice rose to address the growing crowd, "Is what happens when you touch. My. Stuff." He brought the whip up, and then flicked it down, watching as the leather of the cord rolled across the man's back, tearing a small gasp that seeped blood open. It would have been extremely hot under other circumstances. These made his stomach roll as he remembered Samuel as his first night aboard a ship- It hadn't been their's, so they slept below deck, with men who took advantage of them because they were smaller. And then, when Olan had gone to talk to the captain, he had been laughed at, and earned himself a broken nose for bothering him.
-
Landon rested his head against the rough wood, waiting patiently for something to happen to him. He didn't have to turn his head around to see what Olan was going to do; it was pretty odvious after he addressed the large crowd that were watching. Landon gasped as the leather hit his back, closing his bright eyes. He arched his back to maybe release some of the stinging, but if anything, it made it much worse.
-
Although he didn't want to continue, he had to- The men were watching now, he had to finish what he started. Chewing on his lip until he bled, he coiled the cord back up, and then flung it out, striking the man two times before pulling it back. Four more followed shortly after, and he finished with one, half hearted one before setting the whip aside. He moved to let Landon's wrists down, staring at the damage that he had done. "...Charles! Warm some water for a bath. And get some towels and some clothes. Come on, kid. Let's go." He pulled him towards a small door, keeping his eyes down.
-
Landon only grimaced and tensed up three time after the first hit, but couldn't help but cry out in pain at the last three. He back was stinging and burning. Landon could feel the warm blood flowing down his back. He dropped his hands at his sides once they were released, not really wanted to go with a man who had killed his true love, kidnapped him, and struck him with a whip multiple times. Landon half walked half dragged towards the door. Landon kept his eyes foward, ignoring anything Olan had to say.
-
Once they were inside the small, bare room, Olan took of his shirt, pressing it to the other's back, cleaning up some of the blood. "..Ten. The normality is ten. You received eight of that ten. They were also supposed to meet your legs, but I spared you that much. I am sorry, though."
-
Landon chewed on the inside of his mouth, flinching when the older pressed his against his bleeding back. He listened to Olan, but didn't really care for what he had to say at the moment.
-
"..Really," He added, frowning at the lack or response. "I am. I'm sorry. But, uh.. I hope it serves as a lesson for you. And them. Don't touch my stuff, alright?"
-
Landon spun on his heel, turning to look up at the taller man. "Serves as a lesson? All it did was teach me what a jerk you are, Olan. I would rather be dead at the bottom at the ocean than on this ship with you!" Tears formed in Landon's bright blue eyes, threatening to spill over at any given second.
-
"Well," He muttered, taking a step back to glance him over. "I wish you were a girl. But, we don't always get what we want, do we? So, deal with it," Olan turned, leaving the room only after slamming the door shut. After a few minutes, Samuel strode in, locking the door behind him. He held up a bucket of steaming water, and a few rags. "Gotta clean that up. Let me. Lay down."
-
Landon huffed to himself as the man left. He sat on the edge of the bed until Samuel came in. He sighed and did as he was told. Landon layed on the bed on his stomach, propping his chin up with his elbows. Landon began to think of ways he could get off this ship full of mad men. He thought about jumping overboard but he wasn't sure that he could swim.
-
"Can you deal with this for just two weeks?" Samuel wet one of the rags, wrung it out, and gently pressed it to one of the cuts. "Because, in two weeks, we'll be docking at a mainland. And you can leave. I'll talk to Olan." He fell silent after that, cleaning him up.
-
Landon grimaced when Samuel pressed the rag to his back. He listened to what the man had to say, then sighed. "Two weeks? I have to stay here for two weeks?" Landon huffed, closing his eyes. "Fine. Two weeks. But then I am getting off of this damn ship. It's not my fault he thought I was a girl.."
-
"No, it wasn't. I never said it was. But, Olan.. Olan is.. He's just a baby." Samuel sighed, and continued to work on cleaning the man up, before producing a bandage wrap from his belt. "Sit up, let me patch you up. This room is normally where we put prisoners, but.. I suppose you can use it. Lock the door at night, though."
