Antonio hugged him, gently, kissing his wet hair. "I know. Sorry, I should have watched you. I'm glad you're okay."
-
Lovino held onto Antonio as if he might be torn away at any moment. "f---, that was f---ing scary," he breathed, still shaking. "Y-You said you would save me, jerk," He pressed close to Antonio, the cool air freezing on his wet clothes. Bella returned then, looking relieved to see Lovino awake and amused to see him hugging Antonio so tightly. She stayed quiet, not wanting to interrupt.
-
Antonio frowned, feeling Lovino shivering. He knew the wind against his clothes must make him cold, so he tried to hug him out of the way of the wind. "I-I know, I'm sorry, Lovino, I'm sorry."
-
(I'm bumping these because they're getting pushed so far down :I
I'll blank post too in a second -
-
Lovino's lower lip trembled and he closed his eyes, leaning into Antonio's arms. Antonio was a little warmer than him, but he was wet too, and the wind seemed to make it all worse. "I-I kept waiting for you to pull me up, I c-couldn't f---ing breath, it hurt, it hurts," he mumbled hurriedly. Bella, seeing that they probably wouldn't be leaving each other's side anytime soon, set the folded blanket down beside Antonio and tiptoed off.
-

-
Antonio swallowed, feeling increasingly guilty for not keeping Lovino safe like he'd said that he would. "I'm sorry, I know." He looked over when he heard something set down beside them, and saw Bella tiptoing away. He picked up the blanket, and wrapped it over Lovino.
-
Lovino hugged the blanket around himself. When he spoke again, he didn't sound angry, just sad. "...I-I was so scared that that was it. That I'd never see you again." There was a slight tremble in his voice, which was still barely above a whisper. It hurt to speak to loudly, his throat still raw from choking up the water.
-
Antonio knew how Lovino felt, because he'd been terrified of losing Lovino just as much. "I was too, I thought you were gone for a few seconds. It was pretty scary."
-
Lovino looked up, tears in his eyes. "I'm sorry, I know it wasn't your fault," he mumbled, hugging the blanket tight around himself, still shaking violently. "I-I'm sorry, I m-messed this up too..."
-
Antonio shook his head, kissing Lovino's. "It's not your fault, it's no one's fault. Things happen, that's all." He still felt guilty, but his mood changed when he remembered that Maira had followed him all along. She was reaching out, tapping Lovino's back with her trunk. "I think she's saying that we are both very cold and should go inside."
-
Lovino jolted at the touch to his back. "Y-Yeah, inside," he nodded, thinking that a nice warm carriage sounded perfect right now. He stood shakily, having to use Maira's trunk to support himself, still clutching the blanket around himself.
-
Maira seemed glad to keep her trunk still and help Lovino stand up, though Antonio got up with him, his hands hovering near him in case he lost his balance. He would carry him, but the circus grounds were teeming with practicing preformers now. "Can you walk on your own?" He asked, knowing that if Lovino really needed the help he would be willing to give it.
