"Alright then initiates, follow me," Loren says with a small smirk as she leads them into the training room for just Dauntless borns. Serene followed with great enthusiasm.
"Alright, what we'll be training for today is hand to hand combat," Four speaks up when they finally get into the room. "Yes, it's going to hurt, but we'll start off with punching bags first. Some of you will need to build up your strengths." Four looked around at the initiates. "What are you waiting for?" -
Charlotte followed, hands strictly at her sides, and at attention. She looked almost like a Dauntless soilder. Not quite there yet, but almost.
River immediately cringed. The most she had ever lifted was twenty pound bags full of potatoes for her family's job in farming. She was sure that twenty pounds wasn't enough muscle for Dauntless standards.
Kendall's reaction was also in fear. He was a wiry, thin boy. He could barely lift fifteen pounds, and had never worked out much.
Richard's expression was calm and collected, a casual smirk invaded his facial expression. This would be no problem. -
Serene walked with Charlotte as they headed towards the training room. She felt like explaining about how happy and excited she was, but she felt as if she'd be stepping out of line if she even said a single word.
Mal walked over to a punching bag and poked it. He built up some strength from helping his parents lift up such heavy stuff, but he didn't think that it would be enough for Dauntless.
Melanie looked over at the punching bags a little intimidated. All of the strength she had was mainly... well, no where. Sure she was a strong runner, but she didn't think that she'd be able to kill anyone by punching them to death. -
Charlotte smiled, a brave, happy, content smile to Serene. She shifted her hands to her pockets, calmly.
River sighed and wondered how she would ever survive Dauntless Initation. There's no way, she thought.
Richard hit a punching bag with his right hand, smiling on impact. It stung a little, and his expression only slightly faltered.
Kendall was still hesitating. He stood in front of the punching bag and felt it's texture, his lips twisting into a frown.c -
"What would happen if we had to fight each other?" Serene questioned Charlotte curiously. She smirked a little. "Who do you think would win?"
Mal finally took a huge swing at the punching bag and his hands stung horribly when he hit them. Mal smirked a little in disbelief when he saw how much the punching bag moved.
Melanie also walked over to a punching bag and she hit it without thinking too much about it. She frowned when she saw that she hardly moved it at all. -
Charlotte snorted in response, as if the answer was obvious. "Me of coarse." Charlotte smiled, "I have multiple things going for me."
When Hazel hit it, she frowned. It didn't move, besides maybe a millimeter. River frowned, wanting to kick it in frustration, but forced herself to keep focused.
Shadow grinned, enjoying the feeling of his stinging knuckles as he hit the bag multiple more times, switching off each hand.
Kendall hit it gently first, trying to feel it out. He hit it harder a second time, and a stinging sensation filled his hand. The texture of the bag he punched was rough. -
Serene smirked and scoffed a little as they made it into the training room. "You would not," Serene argues, just for the sake of arguing.
Melanie looked around the room to see how everyone else was punching. She saw Four put his face in his hands as if he was stressed. She looked over and saw Shadow and her stomach dropped. He seemed to be having fun, and this scared her. -
"Of coarse I would!" Charlotte exclaimed loudly, her voice non agressive, but full of debate. "Tell me, what do you have going for you?"
Shadow laughed a small bit, continuing to punch the bag with the same amount of energy and force, unwavering. His breathing speedened, but his mind wasn't on the bag. He knew some people here would consider him the enemy. This bothered him, he wasn't a bad person, he meant no harm. -
"More than you?" Serene says. She laughs a little because she knows that, that was a big fat lie. She didn't think she had anything going for her at the moment.
Intimidated, Melanie looked away from Shadow and hit the bag again and still getting the same result. She kicked it in frustration and it finally moved a decent amount. -
Charlotte just grinned, and let out a mocking scoff. "And you think you could be more perfect than the most perfect woman on the planet?" She joked, in a sassy voice, mocking most girls.
Shadow felt sweat bead on his face, and his face turned red from the impact. He looked to the girl with the sidebraid, what was her name? River, yes. She seemed to be having a difficult time, and he had to force himself not to feel pity for her. 'I can't help any of these people, they have to help themselves, even if I do look like a jerk while doing so.'
Hazel sighed and looked around the other initates, who were having much better sucess then her. Anger boiled in River, and she hit it multiple times with the side of her right hand. It immediately stung her soft skin, and she had to focus not to retract her hand. She breathed in pain, but continueed to hit the bag. 'This is life now, you will have to get used to it.' She told herself.
Kendall hit the bag a few more times, using a medium amount of force. He didn't want to use his full effort just yet, even if that would help him improve. He bit his lip and scolded himself for thinking like that, and decided to put his body to the test, in punishment. Kendall hit both of his hands, in rotation, onto the bag, using his full force, merciless for himself. -
Serene scoffed and raised her eyebrows. "You? Perfect?" She questioned. "So you've never messed up once in your life?"
Melanie kept on punching the bag with little success. She was starting to become frustrated that she wasn't strong enough to move the bag as much as she wanted too.
(Sorry for short responses I'm on my phone.) -
Thats okay they were long because I was bored)
"Of coarse not..." Charlotte twirled some of her hair, in which had escaped her tight bun, while she did her mock valley girl voice. She giggled a bit just to add to the effect, being quite happy.
Kendall gave grunts of frustration as he pushed his body to the test. 'How do Dauntless do this?' He thought to himself, then thought again, 'You're Dauntless now, you can do this.' This gave him more power to hit the bag with.
Richard continued to hit, his face a bright red with effort. Shadow was going all in, leaving no intervals in between to think about the pain shooting up and down his red knuckles.
Hazel hit the bag a few more times, gasping in frustration. The pain was much, but reminded her of a thorn on a rose. She knew she would grow used to this, and she forced herself not to give up. -
(and sorry for not responding yesterday. If I typed for too long my parents kept asking what I was doing)
Serene playfully rolled her eyes at her. "It's okay, I wouldn't want to be the preppy one anyways..." Serene jokes, pushing Charlotte playfully to the side.
Melanie finally just gave in. She stopped and sat on the ground, her stinging knuckles bothering her and her breaths came heavy. -
Its okie)
Charlotte pushed her back and changed the topic, tired of the current one. "Well, what do you suppose we'll do today?" She asked.
Hazel moaned a bit when she hit the bag the next time, staring at Shadow, gawking a bit. How could he be doing so well? He was Erudite, not Dauntless born. This scared her a little, and she tensed.
Shadw ignored the gazes from River, which he had caught. He didn't mind much, so he pressed his lips together. He continued to do the same pace, pain racing through his hand at the speed of light.
Kendall's knuckles were red with irratation. The bag would soon cut through the skin, and possibly bleed. He was focused now, though, and in the game. He couldn't afford to mind the pain.
