i've always thought guide dogs are so cool they're so smart
Cole left the cab door open, having assumed that Chase would need it to get wherever he'd originally been meaning to go. With Rosco, and them already being right in front of his home, he didn't bother to pull out his guide pole, either.
"Home, Ros," he instructed, and right away the dog was trotting forward to lead Cole to the front door of the building. It was automatic, at least, so Rosco didn't have to get the door for him. -
They are pretty darn amazing.
Chase shut the door, taking a glance at the man before doing so. He nearly chuckled when he saw how much trouble he was having with the device. He would show him how to use it once he returned. The man would probably appreciate it.
Focusing back on Cole, he followed suit. He was amazed at how quickly the dog was aware of where to go. It showed how intelligent the animal could truly be. -
The dog lead Cole through the doors, going straight to the elevator. Just like any proper service dog for a blind person, he hopped up on two legs, his other two against the wall, and maneuvered his paw around the wall until he'd pressed the call button for the elevator. Cole patted his head, and the dog went back to standing normally.
The elevator doors opened, and since it was empty, Rosco continued his trot into it. There were a few button options, but only one of them was covered with a bright red sticker, with a light reading the number '4' glowing through. Following the same procedure as the call button, Rosco hopped up to press the bright red button. -
Believing that the closed door and the fact that the two were gone, the driver thought that he was done with them. He didn't even remember if they had paid. With his memory, he decided that they had, and drove away, his mind content with his choice. He was getting old, so working the cab would not last for much longer.
Chase stepped in with them, a small grin taking over his face. He examined the sticker. "Did the people who run the complex put that there just for you?" he asked Cole, turning to face him. If the answer was to be yes, he was happy with those who ran the place for being so kind to the man. -
"Hm..?" Cole hummed, not understanding what he meant at first. "Oh, the sticker! No, no," he chuckled softly, as the elevator doors shut and it began moving. "My sister put that on and threatened to sue it they didn't keep it there."
-
"Oh." He grinned. "I understand. That was really cool of your sister, then." He could not exactly relate to the feeling of having a sibling other than his character's brother, Damon, on Breaking Her Walls. He found what Cole's sister did to be somewhat heroic, and quite thoughtful. "Is she older than you?"
-
"Yeah," Cole hummed. His sister was his only other 'friend', besides Rosco. She was always quick to visit whenever Cole called, and at least once a week to make sure he was doing alright and taking proper care of himself.
With a shake of his head, he answered, "She's younger. By four years." It may have been a bit weird to be taken care of by your younger sister, but he was pretty fine with it. She worked at a bank up north in the state, and lived with her fiance, whom had the same sort of charisma. They'd often visit together, and Cole appreciated it greatly. -
"Ah. I see. And how old are you?" he asked for a final question. He put no judgement on the fact that the sister was the younger sibling, she was still a good sister. Besides, he could definitely see where she was coming from.
If he, himself, had a blind brother or sister, he would do everything in his power to be sure that they had a comfortable living style. He would take the time out of his busy schedule to take them out, do activities with them. And he would omly hope that, in the end, they were happy with what he has done for them. He wouldn't need anything in return, either, as it would only be the right thing to do. -
The elevator stopped, a ding sounding, and the doors slid open. "24," Cole answered, Rosco leading him out of the elevator, into the fourth floor hallway. The while place was old, shag 70's carpet, each wooden door stamped with black sticker numbers. Some had peeled off, and were 'repaired' by mailing tape to hold them down.
The dog stopped in front of door 455, the one with another red circular sticker below the numbers placed to catch Rosco's eye. Cole had given his keys to Chase, so he bent down to pet Rosco's head and the dog sat down. -
Chase stared at the different features for just a moment, taking the new place in. It was much different than the other apartment buildings he had seen. Saying nothing of it, he leaned against the door. Sliding the key on, he unlocked the door, pushing it open for both the human and the canine.
He peered into the home, curious to see what it looked like and what the living conditions were. -
Everything in Cole's apartment had either been bought on his welfare check, or his sister had purchased it for him. So, naturally, the one bedroom place was sparsely furnished. The entry room had a beige felt couch, covered in dog fur with the left side of it having a quilt draped there for his sister's visits. Unlike the average home, there was no coffee table in the middle of the room, as its only purpose would be as a hazard for Cole. Instead, there was a long wooden table up against the wall. On it was a phone- with braille buttons, so Cole could use it- a stack of paperwork about bills to pay, and an extra vest for Rosco. Besides this, the room was empty.
Cole let go of Rosco's vest, letting the dog go inside on his own. The blind man turned to where he last remembered Chase being. "Thanks for helping me out. It was nice meeting you." -
-
-screams- sorry ;-;
Chase observed how everything was set up, pleased that everything was safe for the stranger.
"You're welcome, Cole. Right?" Getting his name right was something that he wanted to do, as he usually forgot right away. It took him a few weeks to keep track of his co-stars' names. It was like that for birthdays, holidays, special events, etc. That was mainly due to the amount of work he had on his plate. Remembering lines always, always came before anything else. It was his job. But this name, he just wanted to recall this one name when needed. -
"Right." He couldn't help but to smile just a bit. A celebrity had actually bothered o learn his name, which was actually a pretty big deal to someone who never was paid much attention to.
-
"Good." He gave one of his red carpet grins, proud of himself for being able to do what he wanted. "If you happen to need something, would you like a way to contact me?" He wasn't sure why, but this one person seemed like someone he wouldn't mind going to lunch with. Maybe a movie or even an event for one of his shows.
