"That daughter of a flaunter done scratched my window with her damn keys! I needed ta'get a new one, and it was expensive. People pick my cab to enjoy the view of the great city, and damnit, don't ya' go scratchin' up my windows!" He seemed quite exasperated even with telling the story.
Chase gave a sympathetic look. "I'm sorry." -
Cole whistled lightly, grimacing. "How rude. Some people seem to think that cabs are allowed to speed. It's not like you can go around breaking the law just because some wannabe actor wants you to."
-
"Thank ya'! You guys get it. So annoyin', them teeny bopper actors and actresses." The cab driver sighed as he got caught at a red light, sandwiched between a Ford F250 and a fish truck. He noticed water leaking from the back of the truck, and scoffed. "Idiot people, not takin' care of their trucks!"
Chase loved this man's attitude, the way he delivered his words and sentences. He found it to be a nice break from other people. -
"Mhm," he hummed, swallowing down the impulse to ask what he was talking about. It was troublesome, he knew, for people to have to stop and explain what they were looking at just for him. Instead, he reached over to Chase's side of the cab, holding his hand out palm-up.
As soon as the dog saw the hand, Rosco thumped his tail again, leaning forward slightly to sniff at Cole's hand, thinking he was holding a biscuit. Cole took this chance to flip his hand around to scratch behind the dog's ears affectionately. -
The driver turned the radio's volume level to zero, not wishing to hear it when in that kind of traffic. He needed to be quick about getting his turn. He swerved around, finding a smooth path between the various types of cars on the road. "Ah, s---," he muttered when he got caught at the time where the light turned bright red.
Chase only watched out of the window. He stared at the many different faces, grinning when he saw young boy, probably about eight years old, begging what appeared to be the mother for a swirly lollipop. They were outside of a candy shop named Whirlies, who specialized in swirled candies. -
Cole stuck to petting his dog, past the jerking motion of the cabbie trying to get through traffic. Looking out the window, of course, wasn't really an option for him at all. Rosco had laid on his stomach, then dragged himself forward to be half on Cole's lap and half on Chase's lap, while the blind man rubbed behind hi ears.
-
Rosco seems so adorable. ;-;
Chase jumped a bit once the cab driver was capable of making the turn that was necessary to get to the location. "Oh my goodness." He put a hand over his chest, staring out the front of the window. The turn had been fast, way too fast, and it barely whipped him to the side. All the same, he still did grow a bit afraid of the driver's ways.
"Ah, trust me, done it the same way for the past twenty years." -
I wish I had a big softie dog like this ;3;
Cole yelped a bit at the most sudden of the turns, even Rosco lifting his head an inch or so in reaction to it. But the cabbie seemed confident in his ability, so Cole saw no reason to worry about it. "How close are we?" He asked, wondering if they'd almost made it to his home. -
want want want
"Only about two minutes, mister." The driver grinned toothily, exposing his surprisingly clean teeth. He was able to slow down once he had completed the turn, as there wasn't as many people going that certain way.
Chase stared up at the roof of the car, feeling the softness. He usually grew bored when doing things like so, and he wasn't exactly sure why. -
Cole nodded. Rosco had set his head back down, so he was petting it again, the dog yawning.
The blind man had gotten very used to being bored. There was no television to watch, or books to read. He couldn't turn on a light on his own, let alone use a computer. It wasn't like he had any real, friends, either, only his dog and his sister. -
In the amount of time that the cabbie had stated, he stopped the car at the correct address. He honked his horn once as to warn the other drivers that there were people exiting the car soon.
"Would you like help into your home?" Chase asked once he noticed that the car was stationary. He felt the need to be sure that the man would be okay if he left. He just had to. -
Once the cab had stopped and it honked, Cole knew they'd arrived. He shifted, picking his groceries back up. Along with Cole moving, the dog perked up as well, picking his head up and tilting it, waiting to see if they'd be getting out.
"Uhm.. I guess so, if you could just get the door unlocked for me?" He reached into his pocket, pulling out a key ring that held only one key, holding it out in Chase's general direction. -
"Have a nice day, boys!" the man bid them farewell. He didn't exactly mind how long it would take them, as it wasn't like there wasn't already hundreds of cabs in that area alone. He would have to lint roll he back in case of those with allergies.
"That can be done, sure." Chase opened the door, stepping out. "This way." -
"You too," Cole responded, just as Rosco jumped up to follow Chase out of the cab. Sighing, the blind man slid across the seat so that he stepped out onto the curb, on the sidewalk in front of his apartment complex.
"Rosco," he called, since the dog had apparently already rushed ahead, "Heel." In a few moments, said animal rushed over, walking up beside Cole so that he could hold onto the vest. -
The driver was fiddling with his new smartphone, giving them time to do whatever was necessary. He was used to obsolete technology, so all of the features were quite confusing to him. He flicked around on the screen, trying to find his daughter's contact name.
Chase had not a clue where they were supposed to gom so he only patiently waited. He observed how Rosco aided Cole in doing normal, everyday tasks. It intrigued him to a certain extent.
