"Well you'll be living with one as long as you're here." He started to open the can and placed it on the floor for Ron to eat. The cat started eating happily and purred.

She watched the cat a little but longer before looking back up at Daniel. She still didn't understand why he was being so unconditionally kind to her. Not once since her arrival had she been drugged or cut open or tortured in some other way that he would probably call 'inhumane' as he had last night.

He heard a buzz and looked down at his waist, swearing lowly. "s---...I'm gonna be late." He looked up at her. "Saphirre I have to go to work. Don't open the door for anyone except for me." He started to walk to the door, grabbing a coat. "Keep an eye on Ron and you could watch the tv if you figure it out." He smiled. "See you after work." After that he walked out of the aparment. Ron trotted out into the living room and meowed loudly.

Saphirre glanced somewhat worriedly after him as he rushed out the door. The only living thing that had ever been kind to her had left her in an apartment full of things whose purpose she could only guess at. The was also the cat. Saphirre had seen where the food was kept, but that was about it. Maybe petting it would keep it occupied, that had worked yesturday. Hearing Ron's meow she followed him into the living room.

Ron hopped onto the couch and pointed at the remote on the counter. He was a smarter cat than anyone could ever know, but he'll keep that to himself for now. His tail twitched.

Saphirre picked up the remote and frowned, eyeing all the buttons. There was no way she'd be able to use this thing. She sat down next to Ron on the couch and placed the remote in front of them. "Okay...now what?"

He rolled his kitty eyes and pressed the power button, making the tv screen turn on to a random tv show. He looked up at her and his tail twitched happily.

Saphirre jumped a little and stared at the tv with wide eyes. She'd never seen anything like all the changing, moving, talking pictures. She glanced worriedly back at Ron, looking confused.

Ron snorted and pressed the channel changer up and the channel changed. He glanced at her and meowed lightly, trying to tell her that everything was fine and normal, but it still came out as a meow.

She hesitated a moment before picking up the remote and pressing the same button Ron had. The picture changed again and she finally gained a little understanding. She pressed it again experimentally and watched as the channel changed a third time. Saphirre have Ron a thankful nod and a little scratch on the head.

He purred happily and his tail twitched. He crawled over to her lap and watched the tv curiously, seeing what she would actually watch.

Saphirre decided not to mess around anymore with the remote and instead focused on what was playing on the tv. To anyone else the show might've looked like an all-too-common cheap romance drama, but to an unsuspecting Saphirre it seemed quite realistic. She tilted her head and absent mindedly pet Ron as she watched two lovers argue while dramatic music played.

Ron purred and kneeded into her clothes, glancing at the tv. He snorted lightly at how she was taking everything so seriously on the tv screen. He nuzzled her hand and licked at it.

Saphirre's eyes were glued intently to the screen, one hand still stroking him softly. Was this really how humans interacted with each other? She frowned, watching the man onscreen storm out the house, leaving the woman in tears behind him. The screen suddenly switch to another couple. These two looked much more pleasant than the last pair. They were sitting on a park bench, snuggled up together and smiling. Maybe not all humans were so bad.

Ron soon fell asleep and purred lightly. There was a knock on the door and Daniel's voice came through the door. "Saphirre? Could you open the door please?" It had already started raining outside and he had to rush home from work.
