Seeing that the area around the cage had been abandoned, Marcus crept into his father's tent. The man lay snoring loudly, a brass key placed beside his sleeping form. Marcus cautiously reached out and grabbed it, luckily not disturbing his father's slumber. He snuck a few more rolls from another tent and walked quietly back to the cage. The dragon boy probably hated him now, but Marcus still wanted to help.
-
Cameron gave up on the wing once he'd removed the broken wood. From here, the only way he'd be able to fix it would be to get home. And it looked like that wouldn't be happening. He turned when he heard approaching footsteps, and seeing the figure of nice-boy he snorted. "Don't even try it, I heard you. You're probably slowly poisoning me."
-
Marcus frowned slightly, holding up the key. "Actually, I came to get you out." He raised an eyebrow. "Unless you'd rather stay here and be 'slowly poisoned'." He said dryly, passing the rolls through the bars and waiting to see if he would accept them.
-
Cameron stared at the key; was he really going to be let out? Maybe this kid actually had a plan. After a moment's hesitation, he took the rolls, shoving one in his mouth.
-
Marcus smiled at the small triumph. "My name's Marcus by the way." He said, inserting the large key into the lock and turning it. A soft yet satisfying click sounded and he pulled the door of the cage opened. But little did he know, one of the tribe members was watching the whole scene unfold, his eyes wide.
-
Swallowing the chunk of roll, he stood up. "Cameron. Where do you expect to bring me? I can't fly. And I'm pretty sure you don't have silk, or thread. Or metal needles."
-
Marcus shrugged. "I figured anywhere would be better than that cage." His face fell. "I should probably go too. If anyone saw this I'd be banished anyway..." He stuffed the key back in his pocket.
Gtg, sorry! I'll be on tomorrow!) -
"Go? With me?" Cameron stepped out of the cage, looking around. He didn't see anyone nearby. "Are you sure?"
((Okie~ -
Marcus nodded and glanced around. "As soon as they wake up and see you gone they'll know it was me." He frowned. "I'm the only one here who would do that." It was true. Just as Cameron had said earlier, his tribe was filled with barbaric and animalistic people. None of them would be willing to free the dragon boy.
-
Pausing to look at the boy for a moment, Cameron assessed his situation. Marcus didn't seem as stupid as the rest of his tribe, so maybe having him around wouldn't be so bad. Not that he planned on staying for a while. Sighing, Cameron ran a hand through his colored hair. "Alright. You know his place better than I do. Lead the way."
-
Marcus nodded. "If we're leaving the village we'll need supplies. This way," He tried to keep quiet as he led Cameron over to the storage tent. He grabbed a sock and tossed one to the other boy. "Get as much as you can, I don't know when we'll be able to get more." He set to work filling his pack with rolls, apples, and water flasks.
-
Cameron did as Marcus, filling his up with food and gauze and whatever else he could fit. Once it was filled, he knotted the top shut, and held in in his hand.
-
Marcus nodded in approval and tied his own pack shut. He silently led the way to another tent. This one was filled with all different weapons, from clubs to axes and knives. Marcus grabbed a bow and a quiver full of arrows; the weapons he was most used to.
-
Cameron crossed his arms when they got to the next tent, letting Marcus get his own weapon. "I'm against killing," he stated, turning up his nose at the daggers and bows and swords.
-
Marcus frowned. "You'll need to protect yourself somehow. My father and the others will most likely come after us, and unless you have a weapon you'll be easy to kill." He explained, sounding a little exasperated.
