Maru felt a pout on her lips, and let her hand fall to her side.
"I am reasonably disappointed." she sighed. "But if that's what you want. Let's keep in touch." -
Reyna shrugged. She still held the gun, ready to use it at a moment's notice. "Sorry to disappoint you," She looked past Lydia, into the alley, as she heard some animal move, "But I'm not giving you my address, if that's what you're implying."
The pistol was beginning to feel heavy in her right hand, and she slowly switched it to her left. -
Maru stood completely still, one hand at her side while the other remained raised defensively.
"That's fine, sweetheart. I don't need an address." she replied, blowing upward from her lips to move a stray hair from her eyes. "Let's say.."
She thought for a moment.
"Why don't you text me sometime, friend?" She said with a polite smile. -
IHLAOY Novice(Not a cliched slasher, ey?)
Throwing her glasses back on, Vivian scowled angrily. "Don't trick yourself into thinking I'm some spineless pen pusher cowering behind a desk. I've tried living your way. I made so much cash living your way I could have washed away my debt years ago. But that's not the way I want to live. I don't want to end up like...well, you."
Peeking out the window, Vivian watched silently as Nikkili stood up, moving for the door. "You shouldn't be walking. You'll throw your body into shock and pass out. The best thing would be to rest until the ambulance arrives. That or your thugs, whichever is faster."
As Nikkili walked past her, Vivian sat in silence; sucking on one of her bottom piercings as he trotted through the open doorway. For a second, Vivian actually considered his offer for a 'diplomatic assignment;' something Vivian was sure translated to 'flirt with this filthy gangster for me,' until she remembered who she was. No matter how dark this city got, she needed to hold back the night. She needed to be the saving grace. She needed to make sure she never fell to the evil in the streets. For Joe, for Melody, for Neon. For all the people already giving so much for her to have a chance at a new life.
Stopping Nikkili, Vivian spun on the balls of her feet to face him, "I'm not joining your gang, sir. We've been over this. I will gladly pay off my debt, but I will do it my way, not yours. I'm not getting involved in this war. Just leave me, and my friends, alone." -
(A cliched slasher? No, just don't f--- with my character. I like to emphasize that. Hey! What'd'you mean "cliched"?)
"Into shock? Please. It was only a few bullets." Nikkili added, as he actually started to feel at-least a little faint. He then suggested lying down for a small while, but he knew that a rival gang would easily come by and try to forcefully take the money. "We can move slowly, but we have to move NOW."
As Nikkili began slowly lumping out the broken back door of the abandoned house, and into a small wilder-ness, he thought "wait, where the f---'s my base?". He then flipped open a small phone, realizing "hey, it's not broke!". He then put an aerial GPS onto it, considering every-thing Vivian had said. "Well, from your act now, yes, I might consider you a "spineless pen pusher cowering behind a desk.".". He stood still for a moment, leaning on the side of the door-frame, where the door should be.
He then thought about the mound of cash laying across the creaky wooden floor in the living room. in the, old, very old, living room. "Well, what gang are you joining? Even for a blazer like you, the streets will be enough." He said with a grimmer tone, grimmer than usual, connecting perfect eye contact with Vivian. "I was going to leave you and your friends alone, but, I still need that money." He added, pointing towards the living room. The, half-destroyed living room. -
Reyna shrugged. A phone number couldn't hurt, right?
"How about we get out of her," she spread her right arm to indicate the alley, "and talk about this somewhere else?" -
Vivian sighed, pushing herself straight and standing tall. She slowly ran a hand through her hair but stopped just as quickly as she started, realizing that doing so would ruin the perfectly measured hairstyle she was wearing. "You'll get your money, don't worry. Today was just a mistake, expenses I couldn't see coming came up, I had to dip into money I didn't have. It won't happen again."
Throwing her hands up in exasperation, Vivian continued, "But I'm not joining any damn gang! No matter how much debt it might remove. I'm not going anywhere. That goes against everything I am now. Not yours, not Reyna's, not the Gamblers, not the cops. No ones. Why can't you understand this?" -
Maru looked down at the stiff again, frowning.
"I don't know. I think it's cozy." She smiled lightly then, looking back up at the girl. "Sorry. That was in bad taste. I'm joking."
She lowered her other hand now, letting herself straighten up a bit now that the immediate threat had seemingly passed.
"Wherever you like." -
"I see today was a mis-take." Nikkili im-patiently stated, noting the slight nervousness in Vivian's voice. He then slid towards the half-destroyed living room, scooping up a bunch of the cash in a small but flexible bag.
As he was sliding about half of the small hill of cash into the leather-like bag, Vivian interrupted, stating "But I'm not joining any damn gang! No matter how much debt it might remove. I'm not going anywhere. That goes against everything I am now. Not yours, not Reyna's, not the Gamblers, not the cops. No ones. Why can't you understand this?". He was actually surprised and not surprised of her speech.
He continued to scoop up the cash until seemingly half of the cash was gone. He then tied up the top of his bag with a knot. "Well, I don't control your life. Go ahead, leave. Just remember, don't speak of any-thing secret." He said, with a tiny bit of an annoyed tone. He then walked out of the back of the door. "I can under-stand it. Do you want to leave... Now?" -
"I'm the new person here, remember? I don't know of many available places." Reyna said in a low voice. She was aware giving Lydia the choice could be a possible danger, but she honestly didn't know where they could go.
Despite the fact that she could feel herself slowly relaxing, she didn't let go of the gun. -
Maru blinked.
"Oh yeah." she said, smiling. "I guess you're right. Alright. Let's say.. Oh. I know an excellent bar. Why don't we go there? I can't say how long I have for socializing before I have to get back to work, but..."
She trailed off at that and pulled her cellphone out of her bag, flipping it open to check her messages. Nothing. She sighed, replacing it, and smiled up at her sweetly.
"How about it?" -
Reyna frowned. She wasn't really one to drink, but if Lydia did...Maybe she could get some honest answers out of the other woman. Despite the apparent openness Lydia portrayed, Reyna's senses told her otherwise.
"That sounds fine." She said, slipping the pistol back into its holster. -
Maru smiled reassuringly, keeping her hands in clear sight as she turned on her heel and headed back the way they had come.
"This'll be fun." she said cheerfully. "I don't get too many chances to make new friends anymore." -
Reyna followed, but her hand lingered on the gun holster.
"How far away is this bar?" She asked. Despite the fact that her voice was at a normal pitch, it seemed to echo around the empty alley. -
"Not too far." Maru assured her without looking back as she led the way. "I was just leaving it when I spotted you."
Once they had gotten out of the little maze Miss Reyna had led them into, she glanced around quickly and turned left back toward the old bar.
