X watched the black puma with amusement. His muscles rolled as he stood and padded off silently to find something to eat. Slipping and weaving in and out of rocks he found a cave entrence and sniffed cautiously. Slipping inside the cavern he found a net work of tunnels. Back out he decided to explore later when he was on a full stomach.
Fran saw Mason and frowned before continuing eating her meal. Eating half of it and she was done, licking her bloody maws and paws. Yawning quietly her white ivories flashing in the light. A soft put rumbled through her as the sun warmed her pelt and put her in a better mood. -
Mason warily padded up to Fran. He made sure to creep close to ground-- yellow fur was easily seen in a brown/green canyon. "Fran," he whispered cautiously, peering around. "Something..." He gulped. "A giant hawk... a ginormous hawk is after me."
-
She raised a brow peering down at the tanned male. "A...hawk?" She said slowly and surely. "I'll protect you." She promised.
-
Shira dragged her catch into view of the other midnighters, expecting thanks. Instead she was met with a fearsome snarl. "What is this?!" The largest asked. "Only one hawk?!" She black puma lowered her head. "I'm sorry, it was the only one-YOW!" She broke off into a pained yowl as claws met her face. Blood dripping slowly, she stared at the ground. "I'm sorry, I'll go hunt more..." She told the three larger pumas, slinking off.
-
Avira walked happily around, enjoying the sun in her fur.
Shira slunk along in the shadows, filled with hatred for her fellow Midnighters. -
"Th-thanks," muttered Mason, crouching behind the larger and stronger puma.
Kala suddenly leaped in front of the displeased Midnighters, snatching up the hawk in her powerful jaws. "If it fits, it ships!" she cackled evilly, bounding away into the shadows.
"Oof!"
She bumped into Shira, and the hawk was immediately up for grabs as it flew from her mouth in the crash. -
Shira yowled and immediately readied her claws as she jumped to her feet. She looked up to see Crade, Zarle, and Kuroa, the three larger midnighters, approaching. Crade, the leader of the group, snarled as he grabbed the hawk, tossing it to Zarle, who placed a paw protectively over the huge bird. Shira backed away as Crade approached. His long gray fur shifted like shadows as he glared at her with hatred in his lantern like yellow eyes. "Why are you still near!?" He asked in a growl. Shira backed away, glaring at him, a mixture of fear and hatred in her bloodred eyes. She looked to Zarle as she backed away. The red puma leaned forward and sneered cruelly, the muscles underneath his fur making his black tiger stripes ripple dangerously. His eyes, which glinted like evil rubies, were confident and spiteful. He knew they had won. Kuroa stayed behing the two males. The female of the group, a pale blue female with red eyes like Shira, was Crade's mate. He was very protective, often forcing Kuroa stay behind during hunts or battles. Together the three made up the Shades, a gang of midnighters who thought themselves superior to other pumas. They attacked other gangs, stole cubs, and fought anyone who challenged them. They attacked other gangs to destroy competition, and Shira had scars to show that they attacked rebellious pumas. As for the cubs, she wasn't sure, but she had heard rumors of Kuroa and Crade raising the "next generation" of Shades. Zarle was the muscle of the group, not as fast as Kuroa or as cunning as Crade, but extremely powerful.
Sorry that was a long post! The Shades stole Shira as a cub, but when she rebelled against them they cast her out. Now instead of caring for her, she's basically forced to serve them. Hunt for them and stuff.) -
X crept up to the males, standing next to the black puma. "Problem?" He asked, his voice deep and menacing. A growl echoed from his powerful body as he eyed them, yellow eyes daring them to touch him. His mucled rippled under his thick fur.
Fran eyed the sky and pushed the rest of her meal towards Mason. -
@Lucky: THAT IS AMAZING!! You write super well! And awesome idea!)
"Y-you sure??" stuttered Mason, though still accepting the meal. His ears ticked back and forth... "Hey! I think the hawk is gone." Mason rose to his full height, handsome gold fur glinting in the sunlight.
Kala had heard of the Shades. Forever she had wanted to be one of them. But after accepted, the dark puma planned to kill the "leader" of the Shades and become ruler herself. Then everyone would fear her... but if not, then they would be severely punished.
Bravely and flirtatiously Kala nipped Zarle's ear, anxious for one of the Shades to notice her. "Hallo, everyone," she snickered, leaping on Zarle's back and pinning him to the ground. She ferociously snarled in his face. "You all planning on eating my hawk, correct?" -
Zarle threw the smaller puma off easily, growling, "Know your place. You are not a shade." Shira snarled. "You mean the hawk that O caught for them? You had nothing to do with it!" Crade smiled. "Patience, Shira."

X, seeing his help was not needed and he was ignored. He slipped away, so much for trying. He snorted as he found a hole with the scared smell of a rabbit. It must have ran in here to hide... Crouching he could just make out a plump shape. Don't make noise... He thought as his paw flicked inside and clawed the rabbit. But, it's high squeal of pain seemed to echo as he pulled it out an finished it. Picking the rabbit in his maws he padded a little ways before laying down and pinning the meal in his paws. His yellow luminous eyes challenged anyone near as his ivories flashed a his maws opened. Digging long canines into the soft flesh he rippe away a piece and ate the meat slowly. Savoring the taste.
She purred with amusement "Anytime Mason." She chuckled stretching out her muscular but tiny form. She laid down and pulled her tail along her side as she grew comfortable. -
Shira watched as the other black puma slipped away. Could he have been trying to...help me? No. Of course not. I'm just another of the Shades servants. She thought bitterly. Crade flicked his tail, and she was free to go. Now she had to do some hunting for herself.
-
X began to eat his meal his long black claws digging into soft flesh. He yawned after he was done eating not leaving anything behind. Licking his maws he rose to his full height and stretched out his well muscled form. His dark red pelt looked black in the darkness. Padding from his eating spot he found a small pool of water. Lapping the coolness up he licked the dripping droplets from his whiskers. A rumble passed through him as he lept onto a rock and laid down on its coldness. He was able to see everything close to him from this spot. Laying down he tucked his tail along his side and laid down his large cranium on long legs.

Interesting plot, interesting plot...)
But Kala was not finished. She flashed a cruel grin at Shira. "You know, I think I would make a pretty good servant..."
(She had no idea she was helping Shira by freeing her. She just wanted to become a Shade so badly!)
Mason locked eyes on the stunning-coated she-puma. The echoing moonbeams made her seem like the most precious thing in the world, and Mason just now realized how beautiful Fran truly was. -
Peering over at Mason she kept her head resting on her legs. Yawning she spoke softly "I'm going to take a nap. Care to join me?" Sh asked rasping her tounge over her soft fur. She purred softy encouraging him.
X fell asleep but he still looked alert an ready to attack.
