"Uh...sure.." Jenifer said, knowing that she would have to go anyways. Otherwise her mom would just beat her for it.
-
The car pulled up by the front entrance of the school. "Bye, Jenny. I'll see you later," Christopher said, looking over at her.
-
She nodded. "Yeah, see ya later." She said before jumping out of the car.
-
Christopher watched her leave and enter the school. After the front door had swung shut behind her, his mother pulled out of the school driveway and heard for home.
-
Jenifer walked in the school, her footsteps echoing in the deserted halls. She glanced at the clock. 2:10. School would be out in ten minutes. She thought happily.
-
*headed for home.
As soon as they arrived at the house, Christopher was instructed to take his medicine. He did so without a complaint. -
Jenifer went to her locker, considering there were only a few minutes of school left, she just threw her books in there.
-
Too weak to climb the stairs at the moment, the living room was transformed into a makeshift bedroom. A few pillows were piled on the couch along with sheets and blankets.
-
She closed her locker, deciding to just waste time in the girl's bathroom.
-
Confined to the first floor, Christopher wrote this day's letter on a spare sheet of notebook paper.
Dear God,
I know it'll be my time very shortly. All I ask of you is enough time to say goodbye. When I'm gone, please watch over my mother and Jenifer. Protect them from harm and grant them a life free of mourning. I don't want their memories of me to be in vain. And please, when the time is right, make me leave peacefully? It would be easier on them. Aid my aunt in the delivery of her newborn, scheduled to be born three months from now. Grant that baby the life that I never got to live; give them hope and health and love. Love... Please let Jenifer find someone. Please let her know that I will always love her, but that once I pass, she must move on. I just want her to be happy. And God? Please do something about her mother. Thank you, though I'll never be able to thank you enough.
~ Christopher
The pen shook in his hand as he set it down, staring at the words on the page. -

Jenifer walked into the girl's bathroom, looking at herself in the mirror. Her eyes were a bit red from crying but it wasn't very noticeable.
-
"What are you writing?" his mother asked, carrying in a cup of coffee.
"Oh... Nothing." Christopher folded up the page and slipped it under the couch cushion. After ten years, he still hadn't told his mother about his letters to God. Jenifer wasn't meant to find out either, but she'd caught him writing one a long time ago and forced him to confess. -
She sighed and took out her phone, which she grabbed from her locker, and looked at the time. 2:17.
-
She dismissed the subject, sitting down on the opposite end of the couch. "How are you feeling?"
He sighed. "Do you want my honest answer?" he whispered, opening his eyes once more.
