He watched her walk away.

"Mom."I said, helping her set the table,"That's the boy I was talking about."
I pointed at him.
"Oh, he looks harmless. Just talk to him."
"Mom, he saw my eyes..."
"Go talk to him. God, teenagers, so thick headed."
"I heard that!"
"Get on with it." -
He stood there for a moment, watching his brother who was staring around at everything in the house. "James, come on." He muttered, ushering his brother over to the rest of his family.

I walked up to the boy and said,"Um, I never caught your name."

"Mark," he muttered, not looking at her.

"Er, well, I'm Aria."I said awkwardly.

"Well, nice to meet you then, Aria," he muttered.

"Okay....I'll leave you alone now." I said, acting like he had hurt my feelings. Then I turned to walk away.

Had he hurt her feelings? If he had, he hadn't meant to. Maybe he should apologize later.

During dinner, the parents started to talk about their kids and comparing us from growth rate to eye color. It was all going fine until Mark's mother asked a simple question.
"So Aria, what's with your eyes?"
"What do you mean?"
"The brown and blue striped pattern. It's quite unusual. I was wondering why there that way."
"Oh, you mean my color contacts."I lied through my teeth,"I just use them to give a little spark to my look."
His mother replied,"Well, they're certainly working." -
Mark didn't look up, at Aria, or his mother, but a small smirk grew on his face.
