I froze. One of them wasn't human. I pulled the dagger back out of my pocket and walked over cautiously.

I knew my cover was blown, so I didn't try to change back.
The smell of warm blood and human flesh tingled inside my nose, but I ignored it.
"Hi," I croaked, trying to act casual. -

I glared at the zombie, not wanting to look afraid. I mean, not that I was afraid, but I didn't want to show any fear. I tightened my grip on the dagger and prepared to strike. "What do you want?"
It was actually more of a statement than a question. -

I stood about seven feet away from the zombie and tried to keep my legs from shaking. I still wasn't afraid, I could never be afraid of a zombie. It was just... it was just cold. I continued to glare. "I said, what do you want?"
