Jacky came around the corner and nearly collided with a girl and boy, both a couple years older than her.
"Sorry," said Jacky, stumbling back. -
I didn't see anyone, so I almost relaxed. Almost. I could never relax anymore. And it seemed even stranger that nobody was around, especially since that casino was right around the corner. So I couldn't relax, not yet, anyway.

I quickly walked around the corner, only to see two girls and a boy. I walked toward them, not fast or slow enough to scare them. A normal pace. I slipped the dagger into my pocket so it was out of sight. "Hey!"

I was so shocked to actually see someone that I let it slip, I let my guard down. my skin flushed pale, my eyes turned dark and bloodshot, and my voice was thin and coarse.
"Crap," I rasped.
