Akira smiled back when his dad came over. "There isn't much you can do here son so why don't you and your sister go to school for now?" He said, seemingly a bit powerless to help otherwise. "Sure dad, bye..." he said and his dad went back to dealing with the house.

Maddy held out her hand. "Come on, we'd best get going."

"Right," he said taking her hand and they walked to school. He couldn't believe what was happening but having Maddy by his side made things okay.
