‘Erm, which part do you think you said too loud?’ Chester asked quietly. He didn’t want to tell the truth and do the right thing and tell Jayden he hadn’t actually heard them. If he did, Jayden might not tell him. He hoped it wasn’t too serious.

Jayden thought for a bit. "Maeve." He said with a nervous laugh. "She was practically yelling."

Chester gave a nervous smile, very confused. ‘Er, yeah.’

Jayd smiled back, very confused as to why Chester didn't have more of a response.

Chester fidgeted with his hands. ‘So, uh.. what do you want to.. do about it?’

"What do I want to do about it?" Jayden asked in disbelief. "What do you want to do?"

‘I-I don’t really care- Like, it was you who… said it,’ Chester said nervously. ‘Um, do you want to, er, talk about it?’

Jayden frowned. If I didn't want to talk about it, I wouldn't be here. "Uh, yeah, I do."

‘Ok, go ahead,’ Chester said.

Jayd sighed, running a hand through his hair. "Listen, I... I like you, okay?" He mumbled it, half hoping Chester didn't hear. "But I don't want you feeling pressured or uncomfortable around me or anything, and I don't want this to change things, so I just... yeah." He stared at the ground, not wanting to see Chester's reaction.

Chester stared at him for a moment. Holy s---, that’s what they were talking about?? He stood up and gently put a finger under Jayden’s chin, moving his head up so he could look him in the eye. ‘It’s okay, promise,’ he said softly.

Jayden looked him in the eye, trying to stamp out the hopefulness he had now. "I-it is?" He whispered, like he was too scared to say it any louder.

Chester gave a small smile and nodded, leaning closer. ‘Definitely. I’m not mad or anything. I… I’m glad you told me,’ he mumbled.

Jayd noticed him leaning closer, heart nearly stopping. He smiled weakly. "Oh... Uhm, okay."

Chester blushed. He gazed at Jayden for a moment, before closing the distance between them, getting a little too brave, and pressing a gentle kiss to his lips.
