Jayden leaned into him. "Now are you ready for sleeping?"

‘Can I ask you one more thing?’

"Go ahead." Jayd mumbled, closing his eyes after saying it.

‘Is your family mean to you?’

Jayden didn't answer, frowning.

Chester looked up at him, waiting for him to respond.

Jayd knew he was. "Yes, love. They are." And they'll only get worse now that those newspapers are out.

‘Why?’

"You said you only had one more question." Jayden muttered.

‘Love, this is important,’ Chester said quietly. ‘I’ll tell you anything you want after, okay?’

Jayd sighed, opening his eyes. "Fine. My brother is the oldest. He's the one that was supposed to be king. He got all the attention. I'm the plan b they didn't want." He sunk into his pillow.

Chester watched him for a moment. He snuggled close, tail drooping. ‘Why are you kind instead of him?’ he asked quietly.

"That's three questions, love."

‘You can ask me three after.’

Jayden grumbled. "Fine, I don't know." He muttered, hoping he'd just drop it already.
