Chester sighed, but didn’t press.

"Why do you care?" Jayden mumbled. "That can count as one of my questions."

‘Because your well-being is important to me. Horrible family members suck.’

"What do you know about it? Your sister's amazing."

‘My grandparents suck, though. When the prank went wrong, they tried to take custody of Maeve.’

Jayden raised an eyebrow. "How could a glitter prank end like that?" He frowned before shaking his head. "Never mind, you've proven your point." He figured it was probably a touchy subject. "Can i save my third question for later?"

‘Sure,’ Chester said, not answering the first question.

Jayd smiled. "Thanks. Could we go to bed?"

‘Sure.’

Jayden smiled, giving him a small hug before trying to fall asleep.

Chester smiled. He snuggled up to him.

Jayd grinned, letting him. Now that his mind was trying to calm down, it was more anxious than ever. What is he still hiding from you? Remember at dinner, when he was acting weird to Maeve about it? What was that about?

Chester snuggled close, content. Maybe Jayden won’t hate you if you tell him the truth…

Jayden eventually decided he couldn't sleep. He turned to the side facing away from Chester.

Chester was in a light sleep, stirring a little when Jayden moved.
