‘I’m not tired,’ Chester said.

"Okay. Do you want to keep asking questions?"

Chester nodded.

"Alright, you can go first."

Chester nodded. ‘What’s your family like?’

"I-well uh..." Jayden went quiet. "They're interesting..."

Chester raised an eyebrow. ‘Interesting?’

"That's two questions." Jayden said quickly, deciding to get really cheesy really fast and hope it distracted Chester enough. "What'd I do to get so lucky to wind up with you?"

Since Chester had to answer everything, he said, ‘You were your kind, amazing self- What do you mean your family is “interesting”?’

Jayden's smile from the first half of his sentence quickly disappeared. "Well I just- you know how families are..." He tried to brush it off quickly. "Why don't you like pranks?"

‘Because a prank I did turned out bad,’ Chester mumbled. ‘Is your family not nice?’

Jayden sighed, shaking his head. "No, they aren't. Very dysfunctional." He paused. "What sort of prank was it?"

‘Maeve and I put glitter on a chandelier before my birthday party,’ Chester mumbled.

Jayd smiled. "Sounds fun. I'm sorry it ended badly." He kissed his nose.

Chester gave a weak smile, leaning into his touch. Maybe Jayden would be understanding if it told him what really happened…
