"That felt good!" Jason stated then grinned. "But Will, you still smell!"
William retorted with a glare. "You smell worse.." he muttered.
"Shut up, both of you!" Holli snapped sitting up then frowned. "Sorry"
"It's fine-he can't help but smell!" Jason laughed. Holli grinned.
"Come on-T-shirts should be dry by now" William suggested.
"Alright" Holli agreed suddenly self-conscious of her dripping wet bra.
(Sorry I haven't been posting for a while) -
(All good!)
They reached for their T-shirts and put them over their heads, fitting their arms through, then grabbed the backpack and continued walking. Soon, Holli's back started hurting, so William offered to take it from her.
They walked and walked across the clearing, trying not to leave a trail. They stepped over leaves and twigs instead of breaking them, and Jason walked backwards to confuse anyone tracking their footprints. They walked and they walked, aimlessly. Holli had no idea where they were going.
'Where exactly are we going?' she asked.
'That's a good question,' William said, glancing over to Jason. He stared back at him.
'What, you're expecting me to know?' he said.
Holli groaned. -
"Great. We're lost in the middle of the forest, with barely any water or food." Holli stated.
"Okay. Well we need a place too sleep tonight, so how about up there?!" William suggested pointing at a large, sturdy oak tree with long thick branches.
"Sure!" Holli grinned.
"Great job Li'l bro!" Jason smiled starting too climb the tree.
One by one they climbed until they each had a sturdy branch too lay on.
"One of us should be on watch-you know in case anyone or anything comes" William asked gently. -
Jason nodded. 'I'll go first. Then I'll wake up Will when it's his go, and Will can wake up Holli.'
It wasn't very comfortable on the branches, and the fact that Holli was absolutely terrified of heights didn't make it better. Soon, she fell into a shallow sleep, and when she woke, it was still dark. William was sitting on the ground, staring into the night. Holli jumped down and sat next to him.
'You OK?' she asked him, smiling softly. -
"Yeah, just a little tired" he admitted.
"Same. Can't sleep very well up here" Holli stated.
William gave her a slight smile and shuffled a little closer.
"Are you sure your okay?" Holli checked.
William smiled. "I'm fine, trust me alright!"
They turned to face each other, each smiling at the other. -
Holli yawned, stretching. 'I think I might just sleep down here,' she whispered. 'Wake me when its my turn to keep watch.' She leaned her head on William's shoulder, and eventually fell asleep.
-
William watched Holli as she slept. 'She was beautiful' he thought smiling at her.
-
Holli woke at first light, though it wasn't William waking her. It was a bird. A very loud, annoying bird.
She groaned, sitting up, glancing at Jason, up in the tree, then back at William, who was struggling to stay awake.
She nudged him. 'Why didn't you wake me up?' she said, rubbing her eyes. 'You could've slept.'
William yawned. 'You needed sleep,' he muttered, stretching. 'Is Jason awake yet?'
'I don't think so,' Holli sighed. -
"Go too sleep William. At least for a couple of hours" Holli suggested but when William opened his mouth too complain Holli shushed him. "No, I'll keep watch!"
"Thanks" he smiled closing his eyes.
Holli swung her legs over a branch- then almost fell out of the tree. She was so high up! At least 20ft- maybe more. Holli started too shake so much that she actually fell out the tree so she was just clinging onto the branch by fingertips. "HELP!" she screamed tears pouring down her cheeks. -
What she thought was a yell was actually a whisper. She was too scared to shout. 'Pull yourself together, Holli,' she whispered to herself, and wrapped her fingers around the branch, and hauled herself onto it. When she caught her breath, she climbed down and sat on the ground, figuring it was probably better not to be sitting in a tree.
-
Holli took deep breaths long and slow. "I'm safe. I'm fine" she repeated these comforting words over and over but she didn't stop shaking-even when her stomach had started too feel less anxious. Suddenly, it was replaced with a nauseous pain and Holli launched behind a tree and was violently sick. "Ugh" she groaned wiping her mouth.
Holli rubbed her stomach, relieved it was over. She certainly couldn't keep watch now. It had taken all the energy out of her.
(sorry if it's gross lol it's just i'm not sure what else too put) -
(haha all good)
It must've been food poisoning, or maybe she had caught something in the 24 hours they'd been hiding. Jason woke at her groaning and climbing down.
'You OK?' he asked, eyeing the retch on the grass.
'I think I've caught something,' Holli muttered, coughing. 'Oh, that puke tastes gross.'
William climbed down too. 'What happened?' he asked, rubbing his eyes.
'Holli puked.'
'Eww!!!' William recoiled in fright. Holli grimaced.
'Now that we're all awake, we may as well continue,' Jason said, picking up the backpack. 'Maybe we'll find a house kind enough to lend us some food, toothpaste and a few toothbrushes. If at some point we go back to the city, I'm not being blamed for rotten teeth.'
'Fair enough,' William said, and they continued.
Holli's legs still shook, but as they walked they eventually stopped. -
"Hello. Sorry are you Holli? The missing girl!" A stranger approached them with long dark hair.
"No, no I'm her cousin though! Yeah, we look really alike haha!" Holli smiled before the trio started running as fast as they could away.
(Ik it is short I don't have any time sorry) -
They ran for what seemed like ages, until their lungs hurt and their legs felt weak.
'They have posters all the way out here?!' Jason huffed.
Holli groaned, sitting down. 'Its like I'm an outlaw or something!' she moaned. -
"Hmm, not an outlaw. More like a pathetic little girl" a sharp, cold voice spoke from the shadows of the trees. William's fist tightened and he and Jason stepped towards Holli, confused.
"You stay away from her!" William warned hands clenched together.
"Ha! What a welcome" The stranger's voice laughed.
"Hello brothers!" Charlie stepped out from behind the tree. "I see you've made friends with the little girl, when I've been gone. Oh, and William-perhaps more then that?"
William reddened and spat on the ground.
"We're her friends Charlie. You abandoned us!" Jason retorted.
"Abandon! Never,!" He smiled.
"What did you say too Sebastian? What did you tell him?" William begged.
Charlie cocked his head. "Willy's getting angry. Willy's getting angry!" he teased. "Come on, that's funny!" he laughed ruffling William's hair.
"Fine" Charlie spoke. "Guess we're going to have too play it the hard way. Grandad!"
