She sighed. 'My mother thinks I'm crazy. She snoops in my room and slaps me when I question her. My stepdad is an alcoholic who yells and ignores me. Need to know any more?' she snapped at him without meaning to.
William's face turned from calm to shocked. He'd probably never seen a girl yell. Holli stepped back, refusing to look at him. They were silent until Jason came out from the shop.
He was carrying a bag. 'I got fruit, biscuits, crisps and bread,' he said, grinning. It was probably the first time he'd been into a shop alone, and that new feeling of independence made him happy. William smiled, and helped unload it into Holli's bag.
It didn't all fit, so they decided to throw away the framed photo of Sebastian. William took out a little brown leather notebook. 'What's this?'
The diary! She'd completely forgot about it!
'Rosalie's old diary. She wrote it when she and Sebastian were practically best friends,' she replied.
(It'd be cool if William and Holli had a romance. That's why I was thinking that one of them would be adopted, so they don't end up being bf & gf whilst in the same family) -
"I've only read one entry so far, but this could help us! It could tell us what happened between Sebastian and Rosalie!" Holli exclaimed then added quietly, so nobody else could hear-"Sorry for snapping at you William"
William smiled, accepting the apology.
"Anyways, let's read the next entry!" Jason urged.
"Alright, calm down!" Holli grinned.
Dear Diary,
It is still my birthday, haha, and I am 21 years old. It is late in the evening and all family and friend have returned home. It's terrible keeping this diary from Lizbeth but I couldn't bear too let anyone else read
it. I suppose I owe you an explanation.
Me and Sebastian, were the closest cousins you could ever imagine! But, when we advanced too our teenage years (again still in the same school) he started to buy drugs of the older boys, which we had many arguments about but still we were close, I couldn't disown him for that. Alas, soon after he started shop-lifting as well. Still, we were close but slowly drifting apart. When he started smoking he didn't seem too like me much. I heard he and his friends talking about me being too girly! I wore school uniform and back then girls couldn't wear trousers otherwise I would! But the worst thing of all
Holli turned the page....
But there was nothing but a black stain of ink and shards of paper covering the page. It must of been ripped out.
(Yeah, I like where you're going with that! So, if William is adopted, who by and where?) -
friends*

'Oh lord,' Jason muttered. 'This is exactly like those cheesy Dork Diary books.' William elbowed him in the stomach.
'This makes sense,' Holli thought aloud, 'Rosalie must've wanted to keep their friendship alive, so that's why she started helping Sebastian! When she realised what she was signing up for, she knew the consequences of betraying him, so she went into hiding!'
The two boys stared at her. 'What, you've never seen a smart girl before?' she said.
William opened and closed his mouth, reminding her of a goldfish. Jason shifted his feet uncomfortably.
'Boys,' Holli muttered. 'What now?' -
"I don't know" Jason admitted. "But we can't stay here, not with looking posters for Holli everywhere!"
"Jason's right. Unless, you wanted to go home?" William tried to sound neutral but knew that Holli should have a choice-she had a family and families stick together.
Holli shook her head furiously. "No, we're a team now. We need to ration. Jason, how much money do we have left?" she asked.
Jason reddened. "50p?" he guessed showing a handful of silver and bronze coins.
"Great. We really do need to ration now, all we can get from 50p is a bag of crisps!" William groaned.
"Sorry! Fruit is expensive-plus, we need to stay healthy!" Jason added.
"It's fine. Let's find a better hiding spot and set up camp there" Holli suggested and the two boys nodded. William's hand crept towards Holli's and Holli took it while Jason lead them in front. -
(If you are not comfortable answering that's fine-but what part of Australia are you in? Like Adelaide or Perth? Only because there are many different time-zones in Australia.)
-
They found a narrow alleyway blocked by one of those big bins. 'Perfect?' Holli decided.
Jason, being the tallest, climbed up first. Then he helped William up and they both pulled up Holli. They all jumped down onto the slippery concrete.
'It's too cramped,' William sighed.
'It'll have to do for now,' Jason replied.
They all sat and ate two biscuits and a pieces of bread each, then rested. They were still tired, having gotten barely any sleep the night before. It was silent for a while, before Jason grimaced.
'Will, you smell gross,' he muttered.
'Then don't sit so close,' William snapped.
'Its too cramped.'
Holli had an idea. 'Why don't we leave the city? Outside of here, there are rivers and fresh air, plus Sebastian won't think to look for us there.'
William and Jason glanced at each other. 'It could work,' William said.
'I suppose,' Jason sighed.
'Then let's go,' Holli decided. -
(I'm not quite comfortable sharing that information online, sorry.)

(That's fine)

They waited for darkness too fall and then they set off across the city. It was so dark they could barely see each other. Jason gripped his brother's wrist, pulling him along while Holli and William interlocked hands. It was an hour's walk, but they had only just reached the 'Great Wall' -It was what the other kids had named it. The wall was sturdy and about 10ft tall.
"How we gonna get up there?" Jason asked.
"Isn't it obvious?" William smirked. "We climb!" Holli finished his sentence for him. -
'How are we supposed to do that?!' Jason demanded. William shrugged.
Holli bit her lip. 'Well, one of us can go first, then pull the others up with a rope. They have to be strong and good at climbing.'
William looked to Jason. Jason glared back at him. Holli shook her head when they both looked to her.
'Who goes, then?' William asked. -
"Not that we have a rope either" Jason stated and the others glared at him. "What? Just saying!"
"Look, give me a lift up and I'll pull you guys up!" William suggested.
"Alright" Jason agreed lifting his younger brother upwards by the legs.
"Holli-come on I'll lift you up" Jason ushered. Holli obeyed and let Jason lift her too the top of the wall where she gripped William's hand. The pair smiled at each other as William held Holli by the waist lifting her onto the bricks beside him.
"Alright Lovebirds! Don't forget about me" Jason shouted though he wasn't really annoyed.
Holli blushed but William laughed it off helping Jason up the wall.
"Right-and off we go again!" said Jason. -
First, William jumped down onto the dirt. Then Jason.
'C'mon Holli!' Jason shouted.
'Uhh...' she whispered. She hadn't thought this far ahead. The wall was around 29 metres high. 'Guys, I probably should've told you before we hopped onto the wall... I hate heights..'
Jason slapped his forehead. 'Just jump!' he shouted, trying to be helpful. It didn't work.
'I-I can't!' she shouted, clinging to the edge.
'I'll catch you,' William said. That didn't help either.
Holli swallowed, and before she let herself think about it, she jumped down. For a moment, she was falling... Then she fell on top of Jason and William.
'Oof,' Holli moaned.
'Oww...' Jason muttered.
'I suppose that works too,' William sighed.
For a moment, they just lay there, before Jason stood up. 'Let's go?' he asked, rubbing his arm.
'Sure,' William grunted, helping Holli up. So they walked until their legs hurt and ached, when they stopped at a river. -
"We might as-well wash ourselves-we all stink!" Jason exclaimed taking off his T-shirt and jumping in the river.
"Seriously?" William moaned but stripped off too his trousers and swam in next too Jason. Holli smiled.
"You coming?" Jason asked splashing water in Holli's face.
Holli glared at him. "Not like I can take my shirt off!" -
'We won't look,' Jason smirked. Holli sighed. She did smell, and the water would be nice...
'Fine,' she groaned, stripping down to her bra and shorts. She jumped in, splashing the boys in the face. It felt weird bathing in clothes with people watching, but they were family, after all. They laughed and splashed each other, and Holli chuckled as William dragged his brother underwater. When it got too cold to stay in the water, they lay on the overgrown grass, trying to dry off. Their dry T-Shirts lay on the rocks.
