"Fights and stuff-" Connor said, an embarrassed look on his face as he looked down. "Among other things I'd rather not talk about right now."

“Okay, fair,” Evan said, looking over at Connor. “So you said a while ago that you guys had a cat at some point? What was its name?”

"Uhh, what was it- Tawny, I think, she was a very pretty tabby cat," Connor replied as he slipped his shoes on, humming softly.

“Aw, that’s nice,” Evan said, slipping on his crocs and waiting for Connor.

“Yeah, she was cool- But then she passed away, had some form of cancer,” Connor spoke softly, a frown appearing on his face.

“Aw, I’m so sorry,” Evan said, frowning.

“It’s alright- She would’ve died anyways, since she was an old cat,” Connor said, chuckling quietly.

Evan nodded a little, upset at himself for not being able to think of a subject to talk about that didn’t make Connor upset. So he went quiet, heading out the front door.

Connor furrowed his brows a little, seeing Evan’s expression change. “You okay, hun?” He asked, following him to the door and opening it.

“Yeah, I’m good, thanks,” Evan said, forcing a small smile and heading out the door.

“You sure?” Connor asked, gently squeezing Evan’s hand as he walked with him. “Did I say something wrong? If so, I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to-“

“No, I keep saying something wrong, it’s not your fault,” Evan said softly, glancing at the ground. “I’m sorry-“

“What? No, you didn’t say anything wrong, baby,” Connor spoke, pausing for a moment and moving to face Evan. “I promise, you didn’t say anything wrong-“

“Are you sure? Because you kept getting upset,” Evan said, frowning.

“Yeah, of course- when you ask stuff like that, it- it helps me know that you care about me, y’know?” Connor said, smiling a little at Evan. “Sure, it may be kinda hard for me to talk about certain things, but hey- at least you’re willing to listen. Please don’t think I’m upset at you, or the questions you ask, okay??”
