“Yeah,” George whispered, looking over to the glass of water and the glass of orange juice. He picked up the water, taking a hesitant sip.

Clay smiled, setting the tray down on the bedside table.

George took a few more sips, setting the glass of water back on the tray and sighing quietly.

Clay smiled, gently resting his hand on George's leg. "How'd you sleep?" He asked in a soft voice, watching his boyfriend.

“Okay,” George said softly, shrugging. “Better than I have, but that’s a low bar.”

Clay nodded, watching George with a worried gaze. "How're you feeling? Do you need any medicine or anything?"

“I dunno,” George whispered, sitting up a little more. “I’m not feeling that bad- just sore.”

Clay nodded again, crossing his legs and resting his hands in his lap. "That's good," he spoke softly, watching George with a small smile.

“Yeah,” George whispered, wringing his hands together and looking at them.

Clay leaned back against the wall, watching George quietly for a moment. "I don't think I've gotten that much sleep in a while," he whispered softly, his own hands beginning to shake. "I- I really missed you, Georgie."

“I miss you too,” George whispered, looking up at Clay. “What was the palace like when I was gone? Did anybody else know?”

"I mean, I told my dad instantly after I-I got that ransom call from the- the masked guy," Clay said, staring at his shaky hands. "It- it was so weird, you not being there- I-I couldn't bring myself to even step foot near the kitchen, I- I barely ate, barely slept- I was worried sick, I couldn't even speak..."

“When was the last time you ate?” George asked softly, watching Clay for a moment.

"I don't remember," Clay whispered softly, shrugging a little.

“Have something,” George said quietly, gesturing to the platter on the side table. “I’m okay, you can eat.”
