"Felt like a lifetime," Clay agreed in a quiet voice, wrapping his arms around George and holding him close. "I missed you so much..."

“I missed you too,” George whispered, wrapping an arm around Clay’s waist and clinging onto him. “I just- I kept like- I don’t even know, but when I was left alone I kept imagining conversations we’ve had and acting like they were… happening right then.”

Clay nodded a little, exhaling softly. "I'm so sorry that happened to you, baby," he whispered, his voice wavering. "I-I promise, I- I won't let something like th-this happen to you again-"

“It’s not your fault,” George whispered, clinging onto Clay’s side.

Clay closed his eyes, exhaling shakily. "I'm just glad y-you're safe now-" He whispered, holding George close.

“Me too,” George whispered, curling close to Clay.

Clay let out a shaky breath, pressing a gentle kiss on George's head. "I-I love you, so much-"

Clay exhaled softly, opening his eyes again. "I didn't m-mean to do it, I- I was just s-so upset with myself-" He spoke shakily, lifting his wrapped arm.

“How long ago did you do it?” George whispered, lifting his head to meet Clay’s eyes.

"A few days ago, p-probably after I announced I-I wasn't going to t-take over the throne," Clay whispered back, meeting George's eyes. "I'm sorry, I- I know I shouldn't have, but-"

“No, I understand,” George whispered, nodding. “I didn’t even think of how hard it must’ve been for you-“

"I- I thought I was gonna l-lose you forever," Clay spoke shakily, tears filling his eyes.

“You didn’t- I’m right here-“ George whispered, tears filling his eyes.

"I-I know, and I'm- I'm so happy y-you're here," Clay said in a hushed voice, a small smile on his face as tears slowly rolled down his cheeks.
