"You still want me to wash your hair?" Clay asked quietly, watching George with a small smile.
-
“Yes please,” George whispered, keeping his eyes trained on the water.
-
Clay nodded and rolled up the sleeves of his hoodie, showing off the slightly old scars on his right arm and a new bandage on his left. He cupped his hands and put them under the water, wetting George's hair a little more before grabbing a nearby shampoo bottle. He opened it and poured some into his hand, gently resting his hands on his boyfriend's hand and massaging the shampoo in.
-
George winced, eventually relaxing in Clay’s touch. “What’s wrong with your arm?”
-
"I'll- I'll tell you later," Clay said quietly, keeping his hands from shaking as he washed George's hair. "Just, relax, don't worry about me, okay?"
-
George watched Clay for a moment, watching his expression. “Okay,” he said simply, knowing the answer to his question already.
-
Clay exhaled softly and continued gently massaging George's head, zoning out for a second. He began to cup his hands and fill them with water, rinsing the brunette's hair.
-
George winced again, gripping the side of the tub. “God, I hate this-“
-
"I hate it, too," Clay whispered, continuing to rinse the shampoo out of George's hair. "I hate seeing you feel like this, I- I hate feeling weak, and pathetic- I-I should've done something more, I-" He paused and squeezed his eyes shut, exhaling shakily.
-
“What? What could you have done?” George whispered weakly, conviction in his voice.
-
"I- I don't know, I- I should've hunted you d-down, I-I should've just- just given him the m-million dollars, I-" Clay let out a shaky breath, tears filling his eyes when he opened them.
-
George froze, looking over at Clay. “What- what did you give him?”
-
"I- I gave him 750,000 dollars to get you b-back," Clay spoke, resting his arms on the side of the tub. "I wasn't going t-to just- just let him keep you-"
-
George started to shake. “Wha- f---, I didn’t know that-“ he said, crying quietly.
-
"S-s---, baby, don't cry-" Clay said with a nervous chuckle, bringing a shaky hand up to George's cheek and gently cupping his face in his hand.
