“You can do a million, right? Anything for your precious boyfriend, right?” He said, scoffing quietly.
(should I have him force clay to announce he won’t take the throne or smth since he’s marrying a man??) -
(ooh yeah, that's a good idea-)
"A- A million-" Clay said nervously, his hands beginning to shake. "I- That's- that's a lot of m-money-" -
“What, George isn’t worth that much to you?” The man said with a dry, mocking laugh. “I’ll tell you what- it’s either a million dollars, or 750,000 and you’ll publicly announce that you will not be assuming the throne.”
-
"No! No, no, I'll pay!" Clay exclaimed in a panic, almost dropping his phone. "I'll-" He let out a shaky breath, gripping his phone tightly in his hand as his mind raced. "I'll pay t-the 750,000, I'll- I'll step down f-from the throne, just- please, don't hurt George," he spoke shakily, tears in his eyes.
-
“Alright, well, I’ll give you a day or two to get ready and get there money and stuff,” He said, clearing his throat. “I’ll meet you at the same place, two days from now.”
-
"O-Okay, I'll- I'll be there," Clay spoke shakily, nodding as he held back tears.
-
“And don’t worry, George will be alive when I get him to you,” he said before hanging up.
-
Clay pulled the phone away from his ear and stared down at it, tears rolling down his cheeks. I can't lose him, I just can't- He thought as quiet sobs escaped his lips. He got back into his car and just sat there, crying into his hands and praying George was okay.

(ts to maybe when he’s announcing? or no?)
-
(uhhh, maybe??)
Clay stood in the throne room with his father and sister, a sad and tired expression on his face as he stared at the ground and waited for everyone to file in and be seated. Sam stood by his side, holding his hand in some hope to try and comfort him. "We're gonna get him back, I promise," she said quietly, looking over at her brother. -
“And Clay, none of this is your fault,” His father whispered, patting Clay on the shoulder. “You would’ve stopped it if you knew.”
-
Clay didn't respond, his head still hung low with his eyes trained on his shoes. Sam exhaled softly, a worried look on her face as she gently squeezed Clay's hand.
-
“Alright, Clay, whenever you’re ready,” His dad said quietly, taking a step back.
-
Clay exhaled softly and nodded, letting go of Sam's hand and stepping forward. The crowd started hushing one another and soon the talking stopped, everyone's attention on Clay. "As of late, there have been rumors about me dating someone. A guy, who works at the palace," he said slowly, trying to keep his voice shaking. "And I am clearing up these rumors to tell you, that yes. I am." Hushed whispered spread across the room before it fell quiet again. "And, I have come to announce that, at of today, I am stepping down and will not be taking over after my father leaves the throne," he spoke, his voice wavering as he clenched his shaky hands into fists. "My sister Sam is now the rightful heir, and will take over when she is ready." And with that, Clay turned and quickly walked off, leaving the throne room.
-
“The meeting is adjourned, thank you all for coming,” The king said, bowing his head slightly as if to signal it.
