“Then why did you kiss her? O-Or, why did you let her kiss you??” Georgie shouted their voice breaking as tears began to roll down their face.

Casimir’s heart broke at that. ‘I didn’t, I swear! I pushed her away! That photo m-must’ve been taken just as she kissed me!’

“Cas, I poured my heart and soul into this relationship,” Georgie spoke shakily, gripping the newspaper in their hand. “I-I know I’m not some- some famous or r-rich person, but-“

Casimir gently grabbed the newspaper out of their hands and grabbed both of their hands with his own. ‘I love you. More than anything. I don’t care that you’re not famous or rich. I-I swear it on my life, sweetheart, I didn’t initiate that kiss. I didn’t enjoy it and I didn’t kiss her back.’

Georgie looked up at Casimir with teary eyes, exhaling shakily. “I-“ He paused, looking down and squeezing his eyes shut. “I think I need some- some time to think, Casimir,” they spoke in a shaky whisper, tears rolling down their cheek and onto the floor. “I-I’m sorry, but I- I think we need to t-take a short break…”

‘I- No no no, please,’ Casimir said desperately, grabbing their hands. ‘No, please,
I-I swear I didn’t do anything! I-I need you Georgie, please don’t leave-‘ Tears filled his eyes. -
“I will not be tricked again!” Georgie shouted as she lifted her head, angry tears welling up in her eyes. “If you truly loved me, you would listen to me and let me think things over!”

Tears streaked down Casimir’s face. He let go of Georgie’s hands, taking a step back. ‘I-I’m sorry. I’m so, so sorry.’

“Then prove it to me,” Georgie whispered softly, exhaling shakily.

Casimir watched them for a moment, looking for any signs of forgiveness. When Georgie didb’t show any, he looked down. ‘I-I’ll do anything, please don’t leave.’

“Just- Let me have s-some time to think,” Georgie spoke softly, turning away from Casimir. “I- I think it would be best if- if we took a break, j-just for now…”

That broke Casimir. Tears ran down his cheeks. ‘I-I, yeah, th-that might be f-for the- the best,’ he mumbled, trying not to cry. He took another step back and put his hand on the doorknob. ‘I-I love you, Georgie.’

Georgie opened her mouth to speak, but she just didn’t have it in her to repeat those words. “Goodbye, Cassie,” she whispered softly, exhaling shakily.

Casimir shut the door. He sat down against Georgie’s door, not wanting to leave. He buried his face in his hands, trying not to break down.

Georgie let out a choked sob once the door shut, slumping down to the ground and crying into his hands. I won’t let myself be tricked again…
