“Do you want more ramen for dinner?” Nick asked, sitting up after the third episode they were watching ending. “I’m not kidding when I said it’s all I have-“ he said with a chuckle. -
“No, I’m uh, I’m not hungry,” Karl spoke softly, his usual response to when people ask if he wants food.

Nick raised an eyebrow, walking into the kitchen. “Yeah? Well- you’re gonna have something, I don’t care what it is-“

“Really, I’m okay-“ Karl spoke softly, running a hand through his hair.

“Dude, I just took care of you in the hospital for this, I’m not letting it slide,” Nick said softly, looking around. “Want a banana?”

Karl exhaled softly, nodding. “Sure,” he replied quietly, resting his head on his knee.

“Even if it’s just half,” Nick said. “Want me to cut it up into slices?”

“Mhm,” Karl hummed in response, nodding his head.

“Alrightio,” Nick said, trying to lighten the mood. He brought the cutting board out, starting to slice the banana. “So, uh, do you have a favorite fruit?”

“Mm, cherries? Cherries are a fruit, right?” Karl asked, giggling softly.

“Uhh, probably,” Nick said with a chuckle, moving the chopped bananas onto a plate and walking back to Karl. “Is there something you’ll eat no matter how bad you’re feeling?”
