'I guess. But it's not going to change,' Mason said quietly, rubbing the back of his hand.

“That f---ing sucks, I’m sorry,” Chris murmured, gently squeezing Mason’s hand.

'It's not your fault.'

“I just wish I could help you,” Chris said, sighing as he leaned back in the seat.

'I know,' Mason said with a small smile. 'Don't worry about me, though. You have bigger problems to worry about.'

“Like what? You’re my- my friend, I care about you a ton, dude~”

'My parents aren't your problem,' Mason said with a small smile, letting go of his hand to ruffle his hair.

Chris blushed, chuckling softly. “Still, I wish I could help-“

'I know. I'm fine, though, it's not that bad.'

Mason gave a weak smile.

Chris grabbed Mason’s hand again, gently squeezing it.

Mason intertwined their fingers, eyes focused on the road.
