"Oh, you can't "quit" working for her," Elliot muttered, anger beginning to rise in his voice. "She doesn't let you go, it's like- it's like she has a chokehold on you. Manipulates you to stay, like- like she's the only one who can make you happy..." He clenched his hands into fists, squeezing his eyes shut.
-
Quinn frowned, watching him closely. ‘I haven’t seen my brother since he quit. He went to look for our mother. If that’s true, where do you think he’d be?’
-
"I don't know, but he has to still be working for the Huntress," Elliot mumbled in response, bringing a shaky hand to his head as he ran it through his hair.
-
Quinn sighed, looking away. ‘Great. Just great,’ he muttered.
-
Elliot looked over at Quinn, guilt filling him. "W-Well, if- if it's any consolation, I'm sure he hates it just as much as me and wants free," he spoke with an anxious, awkward chuckle, reaching an arm out and resting his hand against Quinn's arm.
-
Quinn looked at him, sadness in his eyes. 'I suppose so,' he mumbled.
-
Elliot watched him for a moment, sighing. God, now I feel bad...
-
Quinn fidgeted with his hands. 'Do you think I'll ever see him again?'
-
"I-" Elliot paused, thinking for a moment before he spoke again. "Yeah, I- I think so."
-
'Has the Huntress ever let people leave?' Quinn asked.
-
"From what I know, no, she hasn't," Elliot muttered, rubbing his hands together. "But, I haven't heard of anyone not escaping from her, like me," he added, looking up at Quinn.
-
Quinn nodded, sighing. He didn't speak, just leaned back into the couch and started at the ground.
-
"I'm sorry..." Elliot muttered, running a hand through his hair. "I-I mean, if his situation is anything similar to mine, I- I'm sure he's trying to find his way out and to you."
-
Quinn shook his head. 'It's not your fault, Elliot. And my brother is probably glad to be out of contact with this family. It's all f---ed, I tell you.'
-
Elliot nodded shortly, looking down at his lap. "Probably better to have a f---ed up family than no family at all," he spoke quietly, a small, sad smile on his face.
