"I'm just surprised they haven't been kicked out or expelled at this point," Elliot said with a sigh, shaking his head. "Eloise Dumont, come with me to the auditorium," the teacher said, poking their head into the room. Eloise giggled and jumped up, flapping their hands excitedly. "Wish me luck! WAIT NO, THAT'LL JINX ME-" Elliot chuckled, shaking his head again. "Break a leg, Eloise."
-
“I’ll wish you bad luck then.” Havyn chuckled, giving them a big thumbs up. “You’ll do good!”
-
"Thanks!" Eloise said as they walked out, following the teacher. Elliot exhaled and pulled out his phone, replying to a text message he got.
-
Havyn smiled, looking at Elliot. “Watcha doing?”
-
"Just answering a text," Elliot replied, finishing typing then closing out the app. "So uh, what uhm- what song are you using for your audition?" He asked, trying to not seem as awkward as he felt.
-
“Waving through a Window.” Havyn chuckled. “It’s a classic theater kid song.”
-
"Nice," Elliot said with a small smile, nodding shortly. "I have two options, just in case they need me to sing in a different range. Either 'Agony' from Into The Woods, or 'Never Getting Rid Of Me' from Waitress."
-
“Ohhh, nice!” Havyn approved.
-
"Yeah, I just- sort of picked songs that fit my vocal range," Elliot commented, chuckling softly. He crossed one leg over the other, leaning an arm on his knee. He felt his phone vibrate in his hand and he turned it on, checking the response.
-
“Makes sense.” Havyn looked at the phone again. “Whos texting you?” She asked before pausing. “Sorry, that sounded nosy.”
-
"It's my mom, I uh, asked her to check the mail to see if the letter came in," Elliot replied awkwardly, rubbing the back of his neck. "Guess I'm just anxious for the reply."
-
Havyn gave a small nod. “Oh. Cool.” She felt like a huge brat for ruining his audition now.
-
Elliot exhaled, lifting one of his legs and hugging it to his chest. "Don't- don't feel bad if I don't, y'know, get in," he added, looking over at Havyn. "It's really not your fault."
-
Havyn didn’t really believe him. “Yeah… I suppose.” She mumbled.
-
Elliot exhaled, not knowing what else to say. He felt his phone vibrate and he inhaled sharply, checking the message. He sighed and shook his head, pocketing the device. "So uh, what- what's uhm, you favorite musical?" He asked, hoping to break the silence and not seem very awkward.
