Hunter blinked. ‘Uh, my father works in… er… the mines,’ he said, making it up on the spot.
-
A look of surprise crossed her face but she quickly covered it. He must come from quite a poor family if his father was working in the mines- of course she didn't mind but she knew what her father would say. "So, when did you move here?" She asked curiously.
-
‘A few years ago,’ Hunter responded. He figured it was best to play along. But actually, he’d arrived in this town 1100 years ago.
-
"Oh! Are you homeschooled than?" She asked knowing that living they close he should be attending the village school.
-
‘Uh… kind of.’
-
Eleanor tried to hide the confused expression on her face. "That must be nice" she muttered.
-
Hunter heard her mutter. He frowned. ‘What’s wrong with the school?’ he asked.
-
Eleanor shrugged. "Not much I suppose, the teachers give a heavy beating especially Mr Clark if you so much as mutter a word and the school dinners are foul. Still not much different from any other village school I guess"
(Btw I don't know if I said or not but this is set quite far back in the past where their were still executions and things like that) -
(Alr!)
Hunter frowned. ‘That's horrible,’ he said, wondering who in their right mind could do such a terrible thing. -
"Welcome to school" Eleanor laughed. "Anyway, whats being homeschooled like?" She asked generally curious to see if it was any better than actual school.
-
Hunter thought for a moment. He had been to school, but that was in the late 1500s. He was sure it had changed since then. ‘Well, better,’ Hunter said with a chuckle. He’d never actually been homeschooled. ‘Just a private tutor instead of a teacher, and no other kids. A bit boring, really.
-
Eleanor nodded. "Oh, do you still get beaten? Or punished for talking at all?"
-
‘No, I don’t think I have,’ Hunter responded.
-
"Then you're very lucky" Eleanor smiled wishing they could afford a private tutor.
-
Hunter shrugged. ‘And very lonely.’
