"Ok." Jayden checked the board room since it was closest. The door was open, so he just stuck his head in. "Caden?"

Caden was working at the long table, papers scattered over it. He looked up. ‘Jayden,’ he said, smirking. ‘Have you had success?’

Jayd didn't let his smug face get to him. "Yeah, actually. I was wondering where the paperwork he'd have to do is."

Caden grinned. ‘Good, good.’ He pulled out a sheet of paper. ‘Have your little boyfriend sign this.’

Jayden grabbed it. "There's no tricks on here, is there?" He asked, squinting to read the fine print.

Caden smirked and shook his head. ‘No, no tricks.’

"Alright." Jayd took the paper and walked back to his room without another word. He figured he didn't owe Caden a thank you for this. He walked in his room, still trying to read the fine print. "Chester, I may need to borrow your glasses."

Chester laughed, looking up at him. ‘Why’s that, love?’

"The fine print is tiny." Jayden sighed. "And I want to look through it to make sure I'm not unintentionally having you sign a trap."

‘I don’t blame you,’ Chester said, sitting up. ‘Here, let me look.’

Jayden gave it to him. "Fine. Tell me if there's anything you're even remotely uncomfortable with, ok?"

Chester nodded. ‘Alright,’ he said, squinting and skimming over the writing. He couldn’t read parts of it, but the parts he could read looked all in order. ‘It looks fine,’ he said.’

"Ok." Jayden grabbed a pen and gave Chester it.

Chester smiled and took the pen, skimming over the contract again. He still couldn’t read parts, and he could only pray it didn’t have some kind of trick in it. He could be gambling his whole kingdom, his throne, himself. He took a deep breath before putting his signature on the bottom.

Jayden leaned into him. "Thank you so much." He mumbled, looking up at him with a slightly sad smile. He made a promise to himself that the second his board was out of the picture, he'd give the land right back, maybe even give more land back if his kingdom could handle that.
