‘I wouldn’t be a very good boyfriend if I didn’t,’ Chester said, wrapping an arm around him, smiling gently. ‘You’re pretty much the only person in this world that makes me happy, Jayden. Apart from Maeve, but she’s my sibling, so it’s a given. I could never let someone treat you that way.’

Jayden blushed, wrapping his arms around him as well. “Thank you.” He mumbled. “You’re the only person that makes me happy too.”

‘I wouldn’t say that’s a good thing, darling, but thank you,’ Chester said with a small chuckled, picking him up. ‘Astrid will have his petty revenge, no doubt. But I feel better knowing he was just a little scared of us.’

“It’s probably not.” Jayden admit, blushing as he picked him up. “He definitely will, but shush, we’re not worrying about that right now.”

‘Fair enough,’ Chester laughed as he walked back to Jayden’s room. ‘So, do we have anything to do today? Work, meetings…?’

Jayd shook his head. “Not today, unless my director pulls an emergency meeting once he realizes I’m back.” He remembered the phone call and gave a small sigh.

Chester smiled weakly, remembering what Jayden had told him about the board of directors. ‘Well, at least there’s a low chance of that happening.’ They got to Jayden’s room, and almost just after he shut the door, as if right on cue, somebody knocked.

Jayden gave a small nod, sighing again once he heard the door knock. “Who is it?”

Chester sat on Jayden’s bed.

Jayden sat next to him, leaning his head on his shoulder. The director came in. Jayden willed himself not to groan. “What do you want?”

Chester looked up at the director. He didn’t immediately recognise his face.

Jayden snuggled into Chester more before looking at the director again. “Chester, this is Caden. Caden, this is-“
“I know who Chester is.” Caden said, like it was the most obvious thing in the world-which, Jayden supposed it was since Caden had to know everything about every ruler nearby. -
‘Caden,’ Chester murmured, watching the director. ‘Never heard of you. You’re the director of the board, yes?’

Caden nodded, narrowing his eyes slightly at Chester. “Yes, that’s me.”
Jayden frowned. “What do you want?” He asked again. -
Chester immediately didn’t like him. He pulled Jayden closer, murmuring in his ear, ‘Do you want him to leave?’
Caden sighed, rubbing his temple. ‘A meeting’s been called. Your presence is required your majesty,’ he said, sarcasm very evident in his voice as he address Jayden.
