“Shush. I forgive you.” Jayden held him tight.

Chester buried his face in Jayden’s shirt, hands shaking. ‘Why?’

Jayd took his shaking hands. “Because I love you, and because you haven’t lied to me any more, have you?”

Chester paused before shaking his head. ‘I-I don’t think so…’ His wings disappeared, replaced with a skinny tail and round grey ears. He shrieked a few inches. ‘And to make things worse, I’m a rat!’

Jayden tried not to laugh. “Hey, I’m the taller one now!” He paused. “Or… I suppose we’re about the same height…”

Chester buried his face in Jayden’s shirt, which was easier since he wasn’t tall. ‘Goddamn it…’

Jayd pat his head. “It’s ok.” He smiled. “I love you anyways.”

‘I don’t know why,’ Chester mumbled, voice only just above a whisper, muffled by Jayden’s shirt. ‘Love you too.’

Jayden could hear it, but not enough to know what he said. “What?” He asked softly, cupping Chester’s head in his hands so he could tilt it up gently so they could lock eyes.
(Dammit, gtg for a bit) -
(Dammit, cya!)
Chester avoided his gaze. ‘I said I love you too.’ -
“No, before that.” Jayden frowned. “Tell me, please?”

Chester shook his head, burying his head back in Jayden’s shirt.

Jayden held him close, frowning even more. “Why can’t you tell me?” He asked quietly.

I don’t want you to you think I’m any more weak. Chester held onto him tightly. ‘It doesn’t matter.’

Jayd rubbed his thumb on Chester’s cheek, hoping it’d calm him down. “If it doesn’t matter, then there’s no point in not telling me, right?” He didn’t enjoy prying, but he was worried about his boyfriend.
