"I didn't." He chuckled. "Your mom tends to hover."

Chester smiled. At least his parents still cared about him, even after death. ‘Is she mad?’

"Well, she's mad at someone. Nothing you should worry about."

Chester relaxed slightly. ‘So.. neither of you are mad at me? Or Jayden?’

"Of course not. Just don't be surprised if the word gets around that you kicked her out. She always was too dramatic for her own good."

Chester relaxed. He leaned his head on his father’s shoulder. ‘I guess I should’ve thought of that.’

His father pat his head. "I only figured it out through years of her being my in-law, I didn't expect you to know."

‘I figured it out after… y’know. She wasn’t too nice about it.’

"I can imagine."
It got very quiet after that. Jayden didn't normally like silence, but this one wasn't too bad. Besides, it'd be an a--hole move to interrupt it. -
Chester closed his eyes, trying to imagine his father was still alive. That his mother would be waiting for them and this was just father-son bonding time. That just made him sadder.

"Chester, are you sure you're alright?" His father asked quietly.

Chester nodded, quickly wiping his eyes. ‘Yep. All good here.’

He frowned, but didn't pry. "Is there anything else I should know about?"

‘N-Nothing I haven’t already told you.’

His father frowned. It wasn't like his son to stammer unless something was wrong.
