Jack was drinking some of the blood from the sealed pitcher when Mildred walked in. He quickly downed it then filled the cup with milk to hide the smell. He had only eaten half of the waffle and he'd barely touched the bacon. He didn't feel like eating as his skin started to feel like it was biting

'Hello,' Mildred said. She noticed his skin looked a worse red colour than before and winced.

"hello Mildred." Jack said. He felt awful. He kept eating despite the fact he felt like his skin was burning off. He messed with the aloe vera but after eating it didn't work he sat down for actual food

'Are you OK?' Mildred asked. 'I could get started on the remedy if Wilhelm doesn't mind me using the kitchen.'

"I'm fine. You should probably eat before you start with the cure for this." Jack said. Dread filled his eyes as he developed an itch on his arm. He couldn't scratch any itch with his current affiliation. It would sting like a thousand suns

'No, I can eat later. You look awful,' Mildred said. Her eyes widened. 'Not in that way! I mean, you look like you're in a lot of pain, not like you literally look awful... I'm just gonna go into the kitchen.' She quickly turned away and walked into the kitchen.

Wilhelm stared at Mildred when she walked in. "So you know something about the young lords new affliction?" Wilhelm asked. Jack drank his milk

'Uhh, yeah,' Mildred said, shutting the doors behind her. 'Didn't tell you?' She looked around for the aloe vera plant.

"why is his skin red as if he got a sunburn? Did you do something?" Wilhelm asked. He was distrustful of humans after everything that had happened in the palace. He was a fugitive in his first life after all. Running far from accusations of being a changeling who poisoned the king.

'Well... Uhm..' Mildred said meekly. 'I took him to see the sun. I did some research and turns out vampires can see the sun when holding lapis lazuli, I happened to have a necklace with that charm, but we must've been watching too long because he's got a sunburn...' she explained quickly.

"if that's the case why didn't the young lord tell me?" Wilhelm questioned. As far as he knew jack told him everything

'I'm not sure,' Mildred said with a shrug.

"I'm not particularly sure what purpose this would serve as a lie unless you hurt him but I'm willing to take your word if a good old sunburn treatment works on his majesty." Wilhelm said as he looked to the dining hall doors

Mildred smiled, shoulders relaxing slightly in relief. 'Thank you. Do you know where he put the aloe vera, by the way?' she asked. 'I need it to make a remedy for him.'

"he handed it to me saying it was food so I held onto it. I thought it was silly but he never has had a sunburn before so it must've been confusing for him." Wilhelm said as he took the plant out of his pocket
