"So... How's your day been?" Theo asked, though he thought he knew the answer would be something along the lines of 'meh'.

'Fine,' she muttered.

"Alright, that's.... cool." He looked down at the floor, not sure what to say.

Hazel remained silent. She closed her eyes and let a single tear fall down on her cheek, but tried to wipe it away without Theo noticing it.

Theo noticed something shiny on Hazel's cheeks, but couldn't tell if it was a tear or the lights being bad, so he decided not to say anything about it.

Hazel sniffed and continued eating.

Theo raised his eyebrows at Hazel, eating another calzone. -

Hazel-Lee looked up at him. 'What?' -
"You alright?" Theo asked quietly, not daring to say it louder in case she got offended by it.

'Fine,' she muttered, though it was probably obvious she didn't mean it.

Theo sighed. "Hazel, please tell me what's wrong." They said quietly. "I won't tell anyone."

'I guess I don't have that many friends,' she said, looking at the girls sitting together. 'And maybe they do mean the insults they shout.'

Theo looked at her empathetically. "I'm so sorry. That's awful." He didn't blame her for lying to him. It felt justifiable to him.

'I-it's fine,' Hazel sighed. 'I'm used to it by now.'

"That doesn't make it much better." Theo said, shaking his head. "Why do they make fun of you anyway?"
